the amazing things you'll be doing
A unique off-beaten track cookery holiday that gives you the opportunity to experience the authentic Lombardy’s life-style through its cuisine and wine. This holiday can suit individuals, small groups, families or private parties. You will be staying in newly-renovated eco-friendly country villa outside Bergamo – a charming medieval town nestled amongst Lake Iseo, Garda and Como and the mountains of the Brembana and Seriana Valley.

Our cookery lessons focus on local recipes using local and seasonal produce, including wine. We will take you to a local wine and cheese tasting. Our four-bedroom secluded eco villa has been refurbished with sustainable local materials, in keeping with the surrounding picturesque woodland, winding roads and eye-catching views of open countryside.

how this holiday makes a difference
Our groups are small in number in order to preserve the environment and the local community. We use fresh produce from local farmers so we sustain their agricultural activity. All the people employed from chef, gardener, cleaning lady to the transport company are from the local community so we sustain local economy. We promote our region through the local cuisine and wine preserving in this way our culture and heritage. We have a local chef at disposal for clients who require one and she cooks just regional recipes using ingredients from the local farmers. We encourage our client to visit the local town, Bergamo and its province by giving them an audio-guide or booking a local guide.

The villa has been renovated using local and sustainable materials. The walls have been insulated in order to save energy in winter and it has triple glaze windows. It has been decorated with water paint. We use energy saving light bulbs and in the garden we have installed solar lights. We encourage our guest to respect the surrounding countryside by recycling as much as possible and not wasting water during the summer months. The water coming into the house is purified and we treat the sanitary water so we can then re-use it to water the garden. In winter our house is heated by solar panel and a wood-burner stove and the wood comes from our land.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
