day-by-day itinerary
| Day 1: | Arrive Boston. Arrive into Boston and transfer (not included) to our gateway hotel at your leisure. Rest of day to relax and prepare for your adventure. Meals: Paid locally. Accommodation: Hotel included |
| Day 2-4: | Acadia National Park. Leaving the metropolis of Boston behind, we follow the winding coast of Maine through fishing villages to Acadia, New England's only national park. The next two days are free to explore the abundant hiking, biking and kayaking opportunities, offering spectacular vantage points of the coastlines, wildlife and mountain tops. Choose to join a whale watching cruise (mid-summer only), enjoy a lobster bake, or wander through downtown Bar Harbor. Meals: Included. Accommodation: Camping included |
| Day 5: | Nova Scotia. The following morning we rise early to board North America's fastest car/passenger ferry "The Cat" to the Canadian shores of Nova Scotia. Disembark in the port town of Yarmouth and enjoy a taste of Nova Scotia with some fresh local lobster. Meals: Included. Accommodation: Camping included |
| Day 6: | Halifax. Next, head back to the paved streets of civilization in the World Heritage Site of Lunenburg. Fishing and shipbuilding have been the staple economy of this small, yet bustling town. From Lunenburg, we travel east to Nova Scotia's provincial capital and largest city, Halifax. With its large natural harbor, Halifax has historically been one of the busiest ports on the eastern seaboard. Enjoy the cities museums, parks, historical buildings, art galleries, and waterfront cafes. Meals: Paid locally. Accommodation: Hotel included |
| Day 7-9: | Cape Breton National Park. From Halifax we venture north to the highlands of Cape Breton National Park. Sheer cliffs rising out of the sea form the base of the rugged mountains that make these headlands especially impressive. Endless hiking trails offer hikes to the tops of rugged peaks with outstanding views and quiet walks to forested lakes. If you prefer to explore by water, this remote coast also offers great sea kayaking opportunities. Meals: Included. Accommodation: Camping included |
| Day 10-11: | Prince Edward Island. From the highlands of Cape Breton, it's a short ferry boat ride to Prince Edward Island. The warm currents of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the red sandy beaches make this a popular summer retreat. Choose from activities such as biking, horseback riding, beach combing, or even windsurfing. Wander the waterfront in the historic provincial capital of Charlottetown, or visit the childhood home of the author of Anne of Green Gables. Meals: Included. Accommodation: Camping included |
| Day 12-14: | Baxter State Park. Passing back through the farmlands and forests of New Brunswick, we head to Baxter State Park in Maine. This untouched wilderness is the largest and most remote in the Eastern United States. Mt. Katahdin is the starting point for the 2200-mile long Appalachian Trail. Spend the next two days hiking along the many trails this park has to offer, take off in a scenic flight, or enjoy time to relax in this remote wilderness. Meals: Included. Accommodation: Camping included |
| Day 15: | Boston. Leaving Baxter State Park we head back through Maine and New Hampshire to Boston and the end of our tour. Meals: Paid locally. Tour ends at 18:00 hrs in Boston on day 15. |

This trip is designed for those who want to explore the Northeast United States and Canada’s Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Once you see the natural beauty of the rugged coastlines and forests, you will discover why visitors are so passionate about these beautiful regions. We travel in small, intimate groups (maximum of 13 passengers) and have the benefit of a professionally trained local guide who knows the best places in the national parks, national monuments and wilderness areas to respectfully observe wildlife, to enjoy fun, adventurous activities and appreciate the flavours of the local culture.
This is a camping based tour and we utilize state/national/private owned campgrounds. Our group is self sufficient and we provide all camping equipment (except sleeping bag) and a state of the art portable kitchen- and all camping meals are included in the tour price. We also stay in a locally owned 3 star hotel, eat other meals in locally owned restaurants and utilize established local suppliers for activities en route that help support local business and keep money in the community. We have over 35 years of experience operating small-group adventure tours (13 client maximum) throughout North/Central/South America that foster understanding, appreciation and conservation of the cultures and environments we visit. We are committed to working with our clients and the peoples of our host destinations to ensure direct economic benefits at a community level. Whether we visit Acadia or Cape Breton National Park, we aim to operate beyond best practice guidelines and to provide a tour programme that creates a positive impact on the lands that we visit and a lasting impression for those who travel with us. We achieve this by implementing the following methods:

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
