day-by-day itinerary
| Day 1: | Arrival & Night Canoe. Our team will meet you at the airport with a greeting sign & a big smile. Then we transfer you from the airport to Tolmin, to enjoy a welcome drink and an introductory meeting. After a fulfilling dinner, we begin our adventure with night canoeing. No other program offers such an enchanting start to a holiday. Our guide for the evening will be the millions of sparkling stars & gentle moonlight. Nature creates the magic. |
| Day 2: | Walking Adventure. Today, we transport you to Polog Valley. There we will enjoy our walking adventure through forests, high alp meadows, and traversing over many springs. Our explorations will lead us to the famous WW1 bunkers & of course, we will go inside and investigate deeper! Later, we’ll find the hand operated cableway to cross the river, the beautiful ‘church of the Holy Spirit’ and where the local ‘Tolmin’ cheese is produced. Amongst the green vegetation, empowering cliffs and sweeping panoramic views we will stop for a delicious picnic & play games. Fun & adventure is what we do best, and even the most hesitant walker, will become a happy hiker with us. |
| Day 3: | Canyoning time. Taking a short walk through the picturesque Prsjak gorge, we begin to jump & slide our way down stream with escalating heights. The adventure will be like no other you’ve ever experienced, even descending a 27metre waterfall, with assisted ropes (unquestionably, the most impressive canyoning falls in the region – where only our groups have granted access). This will definitely be a memorable experience, to treasure forever. |
| Day 4: | Kayak training & development day. Together, we will help you to master the basics, giving you full confidence & freedom to explore almost any river. During the morning we concentrate on tuition, and in the afternoon, we put our new found skills to the test on a Grade I to II stretch of river. A hearty picnic lunch is included, and like all our Slovenian cuisine, it’s another good reason to visit us! |
| Day 5: | Free day offers many possibilities like visiting the famous Lake Bled & swimming there, or exploring the nearby cultural and historical sites. We can also arrange further activities – from paragliding to quad bike safaris. Or maybe just relax next to the turquoise Soca river & socializing with other families & new friends. |
| Day 6: | Mountain Biking. Venturing off together on our mountain bikes you’ll discover more sides to this stunning region. Winding our way along quiet roads, off the beaten track paths & lush meadows, this has to be the ultimate cycling experience. If the day gets too hot we will of course always be ready for a refreshing dip in the river. Our destination is a charming village, home to a natural bathing place. Refreshing drinks, a diving board & plenty of activities on the beach to enjoy. |
| Day 7: | White water rafting. Surrounded by majestic green hills, working together you’ll learn to white water raft along 2-4 rated stretches of the emerald green Soca River. As always we will stop for water games, swimming and general fun time. |
| Day 8: | Free day to possibly book even more activities on offer, from hiking & caving to paragliding & climbing. OR simply, relax by the waters edge & enjoy the company of your new friends and other families. For day trips to Croatia & coastline cities, car rental and Lake Bled, we can also help with. |
| Day 9: | Treasure hunt day. This is family fun & competition at it’s best. Your treasure hunt will take you on an exciting adventure, and as a team, you will explore the stunning Tolminka and Zadlascica gorges by solving different tasks along the way. Here in the Triglav National Park, you'll discover the world famous 'Zadlaska cave' where the Renaissance poet Dante Alighieri supposedly found inspiration to create the 'Hell of Divine Comedy'. Together, you'll have to break Dante's code. Our hunt for clues & treasures is the perfect day for all ages, guaranteeing many laughs. Fabulous memories will be made, as you discover the ‘Bears Head’ & ‘Devil’s Bridge’ and many other hidden gems….or should we say ‘treasures!’. |
| Day 10: | Mini Rafting. Our last day of activities, will be spent on the Soca river; cooling, paddling, playing & relaxing in its emerald fresh waters. Today, we will be trying out the Mini rafts, adventuring along the river rapids, stopping for water games, swimming & a tasty BBQ to refuel the batteries. Undoubtedly, this activity is loved by the children, teenagers & family groups in general. On the evening, we share more stories with our new friends & laugh about the holiday experience during the ‘big farewell dinner’. |
| Day 11: | Departure. After a late breakfast, there will be some time for shopping, brisk walks about town, and then we must make our sad goodbyes and take you home for your airport departure. This is always the hardest activity, as it is hard to say good bye to the new friends we have made. *Please note, we can extend your stay, just talk to our friendly team. Maybe you’ll want to see Ljubljana the romantic Slovenian capital. |
travellers' tales
The most exciting part of my holiday was the canyoning closely followed by the kayaking down the rapids. The kayaking was the more skillful activity. (more)
small group family holiday
This is a 'small group family adventure' - typically you will join several other families and travel in a group of approx. 16 people. The trips are great value and a great way for you and your children to meet new people! While itineraries are pre-planned there is some flexibility and you'll have plenty of time to yourselves. Most adventure kids tend to be aged between 7 and 15, but some are younger (minimum age is usually 5) and some older (perhaps travelling as part of a larger family group). Please check with the operator to confirm the minimum age for this trip how this holiday makes a difference

Environment
This lovely and unspoilt part of Europe is not on the traveller's top list of places to visit yet so by using a local agency, we are fully aware that respecting environment, avoiding mass tourism and integrating local businesses and guides is the way to keep it as it is. Ecological awareness is always present in this fragile and clean environment. For the last ten years we have organised, at the end of March, together with the local community a cleaning action which already extends beyond just local borders and involves many eco associations throughout Slovenia. We clean the river Soca and its banks and clean and restore the local tourist and trekking paths. We always share this awareness with our clients throughout the year and always pick up any rubbish if seen during their trip. We recycle when and wherever possible and encourage our clients to do the same on their own initiative which has a positive impact for everyone. Community Almost all our guides and qualified sports enthusiasts on our Family activity holiday in Slovenia are local. They are well trained and above all friendly and helpful. Our philosophy has always been that, next to the destination, a genuine human touch is what makes a fantastic holiday. The Tolmin valley area, as with the rest of Slovenia, has always been in a crossroads, so each nation has left its mark on our history; language, cuisine, you name it! Throughout our trips we discover local customs, food such as ‘Frika’ or remains of the two World Wars, which left a huge impact in this area. Only local accommodation providers are used on our family activity holiday in Slovenia who employ local staff in all areas. The fact that hotel Krn is the only one in town, helps to keep tourism on a small and sustainable scale. They serve local goods such as spirits there. Recycling is essential wherever possible, too. All the private accommodations serve local delicacies such as Tolmin cheese and Bear blood spirit. This helps to contribute to the local economy by selling products, otherwise cut away from commercial outlet. All transfer services are local as well. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
