Kangaroo Island tours

We will take you on a locally guided journey of discovery of Australia’s leading wildlife destination. Most of our guides leading the Kangaroo Island tours have lived on the “Island” all their lives and the others have lived here for over of 25 years. We are committed to providing a personalised experience whilst preserving the unique Kangaroo Island environment. Our 4WD touring vehicles are changed frequently to ensure that we have the most up to date emission controls. In addition Land Rover are the only 4WD manufacturer in the world that completely off-set the carbon emissions created during the manufacturing process.

On our Kangaroo Island tours, the wildlife, which lives here in abundance, is enjoyed in small personalised groups (max. 6 guests). This allows us to observe, in a sensitive manner, Kangaroos, Koalas, Wallabies etc. in their natural environment, thus reducing any impact that larger scale operations may have on the native populations.

Our lunches are served in a bushland setting and make the most of the local Kangaroo Island produce. Fresh salads, marinated steak and chicken, ‘Island Pure’ sheep’s chesses and yogurts and Kangaroo Island wines. With such great produce available to us this really is a great food and wine experience.

As well as prov iding Kangaroo Island tours, we can arrange the whole package for you including all accommodation types, but we are in the unique position of having our own accommodation, Seascape Lodge on Emu Bay. This luxury lodge is of a solar passive design reducing the dependence on traditional forms of heating and cooling. Seascape Lodge relies only rainwater caught from the roof. This is recycled and used to maintain the native garden. The Lodge also has stunning sea and beach views and is complimented by great local food and wine, making a perfect combination.
day-by-day itinerary
Day 1:Sealions and sand dunes! Arrive on KI airport at approx. 1000 where you will be met by your guide. Head to Seal Bay, where your accredited driver will take you on a unique experience, walking along the beach amongst the colony of Sealions. Enjoy a coffee under the shade of leafy gum trees before setting off for Little Sahara, a vast sand dune system just inland from the rugged south coast. Enjoy a walk through the bush and perhaps have some fun on dunes, sandboarding! Head inland to the Parndana Wildlife Park, an animal refuge for sick, injured and homeless animals. Enjoy a picnic lunch of chicken, fresh salads, dessert and Kangaroo Island Wines and other refreshments. Travel the spectacular North coast with its beautiful hidden beaches and if the weather is warm enjoy a swim in the clear blue waters. Call into Lathami Conservation Park where we enjoy a short bush walk looking for Kangaroos, Wallabies and any number of birds species, including the beautiful and endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo. Arrive at Seascape at approx. 1800. Lodges design is contempory, the setting is secluded and the views are breathtaking. It is fully hosted with only 3 very spacious rooms, all with stunning views of the bay. Dinner is a highlight with your hosts producing dishes from a wonderful selection of local produce. Your 2 nights here include a 3 course dinner, fully cooked breakfasts and all refreshments including a great range of Kangaroo Island wines.
Day 2:Flinders Chase National Park. On your next morning depart Seascape Lodge at approx. 0900 and head straight to the Flinders Chase National Park and the stunning formations of Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. New Zealand Fur Seals are also seen in abundance throughout this area of the island. Enjoy a BBQ lunch of marinated Porterhouse Steak, onions and potatoes bbq'd the "Aussie" way with fresh salads, Pears poached in KI red wine and served with KI’s Sheep’s milk yogurt, South Australian beer and Kangaroo Island wines, soft drinks and bottled water. Your guide will then take you to Koala Avenue and ‘Grassdale’, part of the Kelly Hill Conservation Park. Here we see many Koalas and Kangaroos in there natural environment. Take the dirt track to Vivonne Bay (voted Australia’s best beach) to see the magnificent Southern Ocean, which on a clear day can be the clearest turquoise in colour. Arrive back at Seascape Lodge at approx 1800 and depart the following morning for the mainland.
Day 3:Departure. Depart Seascape Lodge and transfer to KI airport for am departure flight.
best time to go on our Kangaroo Island tours
Kangaroo Island is suitable for touring all year round. The weather is warmer in the summer months November to the end of February but during the other times of the year you will find the animals to be more abundant and active.
travellers' tales
Kangaroo Island was a very pleasant surprise. We enjoyed getting down close to a very windy and wild Southern Ocean, and walking on the beach at Sea Bay up close with the sea lions was a real highlight. (more)
travelling with a local operator
This holiday is operated by a company based in the holiday destination and they will be able to provide expert local knowledge. They will be able to tailor make your holiday to suit your requirements not only concerning the dates of travel but also typically the standard of accommodation, and thus price. It is rare for local operators to be able to help with the booking of your flights.
how this holiday makes a difference
Environment
The vehicles used on our Kangaroo Island tours are the most environmentally friendly tour vehicles used on the “Island”. Land Rover is the only 4WD manufacturer in the world who completely offsets the carbon emissions during the manufacturing process. We also change our vehicles every 2-3 years to make sure they have the most up to date emission controls. The vehicles are serviced by on the Island by local mechanics.

All of the rubbish that is created on tour is returned to base and is recycled. Seascape is solely dependant on rainwater and the waste water is recycled and used on the extensive native garden. All of the rubbish collected is recycled into 4 separate bins for removal.

Community
We have only driver guides who have lived on Kangaroo Island for more than 25 years. In fact most of our driver guides were born on Kangaroo Island. Our guides are passionate about the Island they have chosen to call home. They are also passionate about preserving it for future generations as in many cases their families have already been here for generations. They will in a relaxed and polite manner make sure that exclusion zones from wildlife are observed, that guests stay on the designated tracks and they will make sure that no litter is left whilst on tour. All of our driver/guides have the correct National Parks accreditation and because they have lived on Kangaroo Island for so long they have a depth of knowledge about the Island and an appreciation of the unique environment that just can not be learnt from a book.

All of our groceries are purchased from local suppliers and we use locally produced and made wine and many other local products.

All of the accommodation that we use is run by resident Kangaroo Islanders. Our preferred accommodation Seascape Lodge on Emu Bay was purchased by the owners of the company in 2007. The owners Paul and Mandy Brown have lived and worked on Kangaroo Island for most of their lives. Paul has been a resident for 40 years and Mandy for 30 years. They personally host at Seascape Lodge and join the guest for dinner each night making for a comfortable home like atmosphere. All of the supplies for Seascape Lodge are purchased on the “Island” and only Kangaroo Island wines are used and as much local produce as possible.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
