One of our Trust's missions is to utilise all aspects of responsible tourism as a sustainable development tool for the people of Southern Africa. The Trust works on transfer of knowledge to the people in the projects by forwarding volunteers with skills and specific needs. The volunteers and visitors, exchange of skills and knowledge, help support the set up of vibrant tourist stops and community development projects. The assistance and participation, visits and feedback of visitors and volunteers boosts the local economy. In turn its always generating direct income and employment for opportunities. Together with local NGO’s and organisations, cooperation is sought for further development of the Trust, providing a network for volunteers and visitors to South Africa, eventually hoping to start a helpdesk for sustainable and responsible holidays. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
