day-by-day itinerary
Some of our triathlon training weeks are timed to coincide with local races – in which case, day 6 is Race day! This itinerary is just an idea – in reality it’s totally flexible and geared to what you’re looking to achieve from the week
| Day 1: | One of our team will meet you on arrival in Chamonix Mont Blanc and help you get settled in to your gorgeous chalet accommodation. A delicious and healthy breakfast buffet and packed lunch are provided every day, using local ingredients - making your stay as hassle-free as possible. Our team will run through your week’s Triathlon training plan, then the rest of the day is yours to settle in. Take the opportunity to absorb the stunning Mont Blanc views from the garden of the Chalet before heading out to explore. Turn your legs over with a short bike ride or jog, set up your equipment, or enjoy a walk around the local shops, before meeting your fellow Tri guests over a delicious freshly made dinner. |
| Day 2: | An early morning swim in Lake Passy is the perfect way to start your day. Pre breakfast, the lake is all yours to enjoy. Perfect your sighting technique, take the opportunity to practise drafting other swimmers, and clock up some time in open water – not forgetting to take note of the views as you swim! Whether you’re new to triathlon or a seasoned pro, our team can help you with tips to improve your technique. Head back to the chalet for a well earned breakfast – with time to digest – before your second training sessions begins. A bike ride to the Swiss border gives your legs a good opportunity to warm into riding hills – without exhausting them for tomorrow’s big ride. Finish off with a mellow jog to shake your legs out, then end your afternoon with a stretching session, yoga, pilates or a massage. |
| Day 3: | After a healthy, filling breakfast it’s time to head to the hills with an endurance bike ride (80km), starting in Megeve. The route takes in the Col de Saisies and Col de Columbiere – truly breathtaking mountain scenery to help distract you from the hard work of climbing. Triathlons may not normally involve such big hills, but trust us - the training will stand you in good stead! Finishing up back at Passy, you have the option of a flat run – a quick reminder of that ‘jelly legs’ transition feeling! Or choose to relax with a mellow swim in the lake. Enjoy a well earned dinner and catch up with your fellow guests. |
| Day 4: | Time trials day! Today is the day to beat the clock, up your heart rate and practise your transitions with our sprint triathlon - simulating the real deal as closely as possible. An early start at Lake Passy for a short – but swift - swim, followed by a flat bike against the clock, and then your run. Work on your transitions between disciplines, and use the opportunity to get your fluid and nutrition right for the main event. Choose a partner to ‘race’ with and try to beat your times, or work on maintaining your heart rate and keeping your pace. Nothing like a bit of healthy competition to get you moving faster. Take time out in the afternoon to analyse your event performance and see what you can improve. Our fitness team are on hand to offer advice, analyse your performance and biomechanics, suggest ways to improve and avoid injury, and make the most of your training. Then unwind your hard working muscles in the evening with a gentle yoga or pilates session in the garden, before our team set up the BBQ for an evening feast to replenish your depleted reserves! |
| Day 5: | Rest days are as important as training days in improving your fitness. A day off gives your muscles time to repair and your cardiovascular system a chance to catch up from all the hard work. Now’s your time to see what else Chamonix has to offer. Head up to the top of the Aiguille de Midi to experience one of the most spectacular views imaginable, take the train to the Mer de Glace and explore right inside the famous Vallee Blanche glacier. Or just chill out in town, enjoying tucking in to our team’s home made recipes, and taking time to sample all the different flavours of local icecream. Mooch around the shops and stock up on Savoie wines and cheeses (not strictly part of the training plan, but you can’t be good all the time!), and visit the Alpine museum to get a glimpse through time at Chamonix’s mountaineering history. |
| Day 6: | Fully recovered and raring to go, it’s time to head to the hills on foot for a trail running adventure high in the mountains. Benefit from altitude training for a hit of natural EPO and a quick reminder that triathlon training isn’t just about the race! Enjoy the mind blowing views of the Chamonix valley as you run the Balcon Nord or Sud, looking down on the town below, and revelling in the fresh air, beautiful scenery and open space. Choose a distance and our team will suggest a route to suit – either run a full circle, opt for a steep climb, or set off in one direction then hop on the train or bus back. Then the choice is yours – a final chance to hone your skills, going back to the lake to swim, jumping on your bike, or opting for sports centre gym / pool for a final training session and cleansing sauna. |
| Day 7: | Your final brekkie at the chalet before packing up and heading home, fitter, more relaxed, envigorated, and with the taste of all things Tri fresh in your mind. We look forward to hearing how your race goes, and to seeing you again soon for a winter snow sports adventure. |
how this holiday makes a difference

Community
We are committed to maintaining a social responsibility to the community in which we live. Chamonix is a diverse and multicultural ‘melting pot’ of nationalities – all drawn to the mountain Mecca that is the Mont Blanc range. Our company is fully integrated into the French community we live in. Our team of staff are all fluent French speakers, we have both a French and an English company, and we work closely with a network of trusted local suppliers, personal trainers, masseurs, yoga and pilates instructors and physiotherapists. We are proud to be part of an exciting and developing community that is growing and changing constantly, but we also recognise the importance of maintaining and supporting the local heritage and history of where we choose to live and run our business. As a company, we don’t automatically opt for the cheapest supplier – it’s the closest, smallest, or friendliest who usually wins our business! From the bread and cheese we use to make your sandwiches to the materials and building teams we use to furnish our properties, we are committed to supporting local businesses. We are active members in the Chamonix Business Forum – dedicated to Chamonix’s environmental development as a whole. Together as a network of holiday companies and suppliers we can achieve so much more than just one small business, to protect our fragile environment and continue to promote our beautiful town in a sustainable and environmentally sympathetic way. Environment We live, work, and run holidays in a stunning mountain environment, below Europe’s highest peak – Mont Blanc. The untouched beauty of our adventure sports playground is its biggest attraction, and keeping it that way is one of our main priorities! We are passionate about sharing our amazing mountain world with as many people as possible, in an environmentally sustainable manner. We are a small team, offering a 100% personal service, and are dedicated to sharing our love for the sports and environment around us. As a company, we recycle, reuse, and actively promote the environmentally friendly option in terms of transport and travel around the valley. We support the Chamonix tourist office’s campaign for an ‘eco-friendly’ town. We run shared minibuses, use natural cleaning products (vinegar, baking soda etc), and run an almost entirely paper free office. We encourage all our guests to think about the environmental impact of their actions during their stay, providing information about the local ecology, encouraging minimal use of water and heating, and offering easy access to recycling facilities, free public transport, and environmentally friendly methods of transport – swim, bike, run! Our triathlon training holidays use non-polluting methods of transport, and leave no scar or litter on the environment. Our team of expert fitness professionals have lived in the local area for many years, and know Chamonix inside out. They hold the highest possible qualification to work in the area and are a fountain of knowledge about the sports they love, but also about the local area. We keep our triathlon camps to small groups (of 8 or less) which helps maximise your training experience, and minimise the impact on the environment. Our aim is to grow slowly, sustainably, and in the most environmentally conscious way we can. At every step of our company development, we consider not only the economic viability, but also the environmental viability – we want to keep our mountains the way they are for the rest of our company’s life, but also for our children and grandchildren to enjoy as we have. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
