how this holiday makes a difference
The resort is set amongst the natural bush lands of the Lennard Forrest in a corner of the South-West region of Western Australia.

Environment
We have undertaken a philosophy of being a visitor to the bush, eschewing chemical products to preserve the pristine nature of our environment. We are looking after our own backyard, and invite travelers both in Australia and throughout the world to come and enjoy what we at Evedon Park Bush Resort have created.

We have recently switched to using Enjoy products, which has proved to be very successful in our cleaning regimes. We are also currently investigating changing our soaps to a more environmentally friendly product, as well as sourcing caffeine-free tea and coffee to offer guests. Our man-make lake is not polluted by any chemicals or chlorines; we use pumps, strategically placed around the dam to ensure pure and safe water.

There is an abundance of wild life in our area, indeed our man made lake is home to many species of birds, ducks and eagles, as well as the Aussie Kookaburra (its laugh will bring a smile to our guests).

We are careful not to use any poisons in our endeavors to keep the more domestic critters out of the rooms, as this has an ongoing impact on the natural wildlife. We have also introduced a product called “clean air” to optimize the efficiency and cleanliness of our log and open fires, thus lessening our Co2 emissions. Evedon Park Bush Resort seeks to continually look at new and different technologies and products to minimize the impact of our small Bush Resort on the surrounding environment.

Community
We use local producers whenever possible to source food for the catering arm of our business, free range products where available; for example all eggs and poultry products must be free-range and if possible organic, we do have a local butcher that supplies free-range/organic Pork and Chicken for our kitchens.

We source local people to work in our accommodation and catering facilities, and are pleased to inform our potential guests that with our encouragement many of our staff members are active in the community, 3 staff being members of our local Burekup Volunteer Fire Brigade. We happily give time off to those employees if they are needed to man this valuable local resource. As we are located in the bush, fire prevention as well as fire fighting is a major priority to us all.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
