the amazing things you'll be doing
Ghana is Africa’s friendliest and peaceful country, and stands out as a preferred tourist destination in West Africa with its rich history, time-honoured traditions and arts and natural scenic beauty.

All the ethnic groups in Ghana cherish their culture very much .Visitors to Ghana are enthralled by the fascinating cultural experience that link the past to the present in the institution of rich regalia and chieftaincy, traditional festival, handicrafts and Ghanaian hospitality. This tour is basically about experiencing the culture of some selected ethnic groups in Ghana mostly the Lobi, Gonja Nankana, Bonos, Ewes, Guans, and Ashantis tribes in order to value and understand the richness of Ghanaian culture. We recommend that this tour should fall on Akwasidea festival celebrated every six weeks in accordance with the Akan Calendar so that you can have a feel of how Ashantis celebrate their festival.

Best time to go

how this holiday makes a difference
Community
We have built strong links with local communities, craftspeople and artists who are maintaining our culture and traditions. We offer visitors an opportunity to meet them, thereby valuing their activities and thus helping towards their survival. After the trip in the craft villages – Adamwomase, Ahwia and Ntonso, Daboya travellers are encouraged to leave some money in the communities by eating delicious and nutritious local foods and buy local souvenirs.

Again, we employ local guides to explain the history and culture to travellers. For an indigenous culture that has stayed largely separated from the surrounding majority, tourism can present both advantages and problems. On the positive side are the unique cultural practices and arts that attract the curiosity of tourists and provide opportunities for tourism and economic development. On the negative side is the issue of how to control tourism so that those same cultural amenities are not destroyed and the people do not feel violated so we make sure that the locals are not left out by employing them as tour guides and caterers. We always use accommodation facilities which are locally owned.

Environment
Before any trip we give the code of conduct to travellers to know how to conduct themselves in order not to destroy the local culture, flora and fauna species. 'Do not take any flora, take only photographs' and ‘Do not litter but leave only your footprint policy’. We help to keep the environment clean as our guides are asked to explain and encourage this policy during the trip. We explain to them that in certain communities some animals especially in Boabeng Fiema where monkeys are considered as gods and are treated with respect so they should be very careful not to cause any harm to them.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
