How Gozo holiday villas, Malta makes a difference
Environment
Energy: We reduce our energy and find local renewable energy sources for our energy with solar panels. This way instead of wasting energy, we can use the natural energy from the sun, and save the environment and pollution, and also reduce costs within our company. This is a new initiative and we will be using them this year.
Water: We show we understand why water is too precious to waste and, when it rains, we savour every drop into our private water reservoirs . All excess water is collected from the roofs of our accommodation which end up in reservoirs used for watering plants and cleaning around the pool areas.
Our goal must be to meet the economic needs of the present without compromising the ability of the planet to provide for the needs of future generations.
Reducing the threat of global warming requires, above all, that carbon emissions be reduced. The burning of fossil fuels, which still provide more than 75 per cent of energy worldwide, produces most of these emissions. The rapidly expanding number of automobiles around the globe threatens an even greater escalation in emissions. The need to promote energy-efficiency and greater reliance on renewable resources is obvious.
With regards to rubbish, we provide proper bins where clients can separate their rubbish ready for collection. With regards to construction, we build our properties up to a modern standard; however we feel the need to add old artefacts within our properties, to create a unique look, thus also preserving our history and the way houses were built in the olden days. All material used is bought and produced locally, however we do try to preserve what we can from old renovated properties.
Community
We support the local community by offering very low prices at Ta Frenc Restaurant which is part of our group as well. By this way we help the fundraising of different associations. In addition we do support charities such as by giving mainly prices for weekend break in our accommodations.
The island of Gozo is a little island in the sun concentrated with a fascinating history, rich with crafts, culture and color: an island of charm and joy. Major attractions include Victoria, The capital of Gozo with its Citadella, (fortified city); Ggantija Temples; and Dwejra a natural beauty spot. The capital of Gozo was named Victoria by the British in 1897, though locals still refer to it as Rabat. In addttion some other attractions are St John the Baptist Church, the Xewkija Parish Church, dedicated to St John the Baptist, is known simply as the Rotunda Church and Ta' Pinu Basilica which is a National Shrine to the Blessed Virgin and a place of pilgrimage for the whole of Malta. Furthermore, once can opt to visit the Citadel Cinema to watch a movie in the evening and also you can enjoy watching Gozo 360- an audio visual experience which is a documentation regarding the island of Gozo.
Moreover, since our accommodations, being self- catering is one way of introducing the guests the local community as they have to integrate with the locals in order to get to know about the island.
Our accommodations do apply local staff and this help when meeting with guests they can explain everything about our island. We train our staff on an ongoing process as the owners believe that this is the best way in order to have a dedicated team.
Also we encourage our guests to make use of the public transports like the Arriva which have frequent routes to travel easily around the island and also we encourage them to use the taxis as well.
We try to buy local produce as possible as we can.
