Luxury villas in Bali, Indonesia
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
Villas I and II are constructed using recycled building materials such as the 1930’s terracotta roof tiles or the ancient joglo style central buildings which were hand crafted (without use of nails). Throughout the residence recycled building materials are used wherever possible such as the terracotta roof tiles or the timber used as stair railings. The septic tank system uses the latest technology and is non polluting, and we use a water purification system. Guests are encouraged to conserve electricity (particularly use of air conditioning). We also use a locally produced cleaning product for flooring which uses natural ingredients. We try to keep a paperless office wherever possible, and we are part of the local re-cycling initiative.
Community
The villas are full of Indonesian literature covering every aspect of local religion, politics and culture - yet it’s the friendly, well informed staff which can really bring Bali to life for guests. Private tours of this magical island are tailored to guests personal interests. With an eye to assisting the local community, all our staff are local Balinese.
Indonesia cuisine comes in many forms from simple ‘Gado Gado’ (egg and vegetable dish) to sumptuous Royal Ristaffel. The private villa chef is at hand to prepare all types of western and Indonesia dishes, using organic fruit and vegetables from the local market and fresh fish caught offshore that day. We offer our guests a list of good Indonesian restaurants and can advise on local faire- and also offer an Indonesian cooking class day nearby.
We contribute to the local banjar (or village), also to upkeep the hindu temple nearby. We also assist and contribute towards a regular beach cleaning initiative. Cultural information to guests is given in the form of a page a day (within bed linen turndown) which outlines past and present Balinese stories about religion and culture. We also have a and member of staff who is available to give private cultural tours in Bali. Within the villa itself there are a multitude of books about Indonesia history, politics, architecture and art. All staff are employed locally. We conduct internal training sessions and also send staff out to 5 star establishments for advanced training. We buy all our vegetables and fruit from the market and all is organic. All bath products are either locally produced or are body shop products.
