Bodfan’s garden is designed to attract wildlife. The surrounding fields are topped only once a year to encourage meadow flowers. The property is double-glazed. It is built in stone and mortar and retains many original planked ceilings. There is a multi-fuel stove in the lounge. Emphasis is also made for the need to protect the land, bird and marine life that is currently under threat on Anglesey.
Guests are encouraged to visit the many bird and wildlife sanctuaries. Guests have access to a large library, within the accommodation, much of which deals with local natural history. Anglesey Council has a strong recycling policy and this is strongly emphasized in the information given to guests.
When invited, we are happy to inform guests about the varied and, in many cases, unique wildlife that lives on or visits Anglesey and in the sea surrounding it. We fervently believe that knowledge gained though encountering wildlife helps preserve it for future generations.
Community
The economy of Anglesey depends on tourism so multiple information is available to enable guests to visit local attractions and use local amenities. I am helped in preparing Bodfan for guests by local cleaning and maintenance staff. Full information and directions to shops, restaurants and attractions are provided in a personally prepared information leaflet retained in the property.
Staying in Bodfan is the first step to help stimulate the local economy of Anglesey. Many local farmers, whilst still sheep farmers, have diversified into other areas such as chocolate production, country parks and model villages in order to boost their income. Local artists display and sell their work at many galleries and other attractions. Local shops, restaurants and businesses benefit from our visitors.
