Environment:
We have a recycling system in place for glass, cardboard, food waste etc. The cottages are insulated to a high standard and we have used non toxic paints and water based varnishes. We restored two old derelict buildings dating back before the 1860's and recycled a lot of materials in the building process. We meter electricity charges so visitors are encouraged not to waste. We use a composting bin for vegetable waste.
Guests are provided with bicycles free of charge and we can arrange pick up from the nearest train or bus station.
Community:
Niall Heenan has worked with individuals and communities in the area of personal and community development for almost 20 years. By combining his work as a coach and as owner of a sustainable rural tourism business Niall has created a new enterprise that brings guests to the community with consequent benefits for pubs, restaurants, transport operators etc. The money from these local businesses circulates locally and helps sustain a rural community.
All labour and inputs sourced locally as much as possible. Guest are encouraged to take part in local life such as Irish dancing classes, attend local shows and support other local enterprises such as restaurants, craft shops etc. We encourage guests to avail of our local organic supplier of vegetables which can be delivered to your cottage. The local shops and pubs are all owned by local families and there is a strong sense of community and visitors are always welcomed.
During the summer months there are Irish Dancing and Social nights held in the village hall and all proceeds go to charity.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
