Water is heated by solar energy both for summer and winter
Computerised water system for irrigation and control of sprinkler system. Water is not over used or wasted this way.
Wood produced from cleaning and pruning the orchard is used in the wood burning fireplace and clay oven and the ash which is produced is then spread over the land as fertiliser.
We have a traditional clay oven which uses the wood collected from the orchard. Our barbecue also used wood from the orchard.
Shrubs such as bay, myrtle and Mastic (Shinia- Pistacia Lendiscus) are planted to feed birds and encourage wildlife.
We have used local stones to clad the outside of the villa which gives better insulation and protection from the elements
We grow our own fruit and vegetables and produce our own olive oil. We have a large no of aromatic plants in the orchard which we use all year for our own use and for friends.
We have a local trout farm
There are many local wineries and monasteries which produce and sell various traditional products such as nuts, Wine Liquer, Comandaria (indigenous to Cyprus), honey, olive oil, jams and marmalade, sultanas and raisings, soutsouko (local sweet product made from grape juice), sausages, preserved meats. Rose water and rose jam; local Glyko (traditional sweets).
We produce fruits and nuts which will only grow on higher ground such as apples, pears, peaches, cherries, plums, almonds, chestnuts to name but a few We support local businesses and the community by bringing visitors to our villa and provide jobs to locals where possible.
We help support the repatriated Group of Cypriots working towards funding various projects such as local parks, municipal projects and sponsorships for students.
