Responsible tourism: New York State bed & breakfast in Finger Lakes region
Our customers enjoy the Finger Lakes Wineries and Breweries and we promote recycling and conservation by providing collection containers in the Inn for our customers empty wine, beer and water bottles. These containers are taken to the local recycling facility on a daily basis. Furthermore, We encourage our guests to conserve water by NOT requesting a clean towel or change of bed linens each night of their stay. We can conserve water by replacing towels or changing bed linens every other day. We also have installed the latest in washing machine technology that only uses cold water (and no soap) to wash our linens and towels. By only using cold water we conserving energy by not heating the water. Another way that we help our environment is to not pollute the local water ways with unnecessary soaps and chemicals in our washing machines. The above technology uses a hydrogen infused water to clean and thus no soap, softener or bleach is necessary.
The Finger Lakes area is home to many agricultural farms and vineyards. We are known for featuring products (cheese, distilled spirits, wine, fruits, vegetables, etc.) from many of the local Finger Lake merchants in our Breakfast offering. We shop only local farms when we can. For example, our breakfast consists of local wine jelly and wine, local vegetables, local bread, local eggs, local cheese and local fruit. This gives us a chance to talk to our guests about what the area has to offer and it is also helping the local farmers. Be talk about the cheese in a dish and the guests go to the dairy farm to sample the cheese varieties. We talk about the wines or spirits we use and they go to the winery and sample their products. Everybody wins when you support each other. Our Breakfasts have become a celebration and have been written up in many media outlets because we feature farm fresh products.
