Which means that 78.5% Of the material that the hotel disposes of is either recycled, composted, or donated for re-use. Prior to putting commercial recycling in place, that diversion number would have been zero.

Community

As well as looking out for the environment, we recognise the importance of supporting our local community as well as charitable organisations working to improve the way people live. The hotel has donated 1,838 lbs of soap to Clean the World over the life of the program (735 lbs so far in 2014!), and we've also donated 1,738 lbs of shampoo & conditioner in 2014 to local partners, Boulder Shelter for the Homeless and Emergency Family Assistance Association. We've also donated unused toilet paper rolls to Harvest of Hope; additionally, it donates candles to the Resource Area for Teachers.

The hotel also supports groups within the community who are need with donation of linens to Red Apple Recycling. We host monthly community environmental events to bring people together and share information about how we can each protect our environment. Past events have included Earth Hour and "Lights Out Lunch". We promote Earth Day and give donations to Center for ReSource Conservation. We also support America Recycles Day Ecocycle Waste Summit and UNICEF Tap Week.

As a committed Colorado green hotel, we realise that the decisions we make as an organisation affect not just the environment of the Hotel, but also that of the community. As such, the Hotel recognises the need to be aware of how we affect the world in which we live. In an attempt to improve our environmental efforts, the St Julien has formed a Green Committee, whose goal is to spearhead efforts that will reduce the Hotel's footprint on the community – all while maintaining the high level of service and quality demanded by our guests.
