Responsible tourism: Tuscany rural villas, Italy

We make every effort to recycle everything we can, from glass to plastic and even food waste that often feeds our chickens! Throughout the farm we have wood-burning heating and every piece of wood is collected, cut and stored by us. We make sure the farm and the buildings are appropriately heated in order to not be wasteful and preserve our local environment for sustainable use.

Seeped in years of history, our buildings can be traced back to the mid- 15th century. It is therefore important that we retain the farm’s legacy and unique character. To ensure this, throughout our buildings on the farm, we build, restore and decorate using carefully sourced local materials and in a style that tells the cultural or geological story of the landscape.

We employ local people and provide them with good working conditions, a fair wage, and empower them with training opportunities. As such, we are proud to support the local region and strive to create good relationships between tourists and the local communities.

For instance, during the spring and summer season we provide information for our guests of all the activities, exhibitions and festivals organized by the people of the territory. We are happy to recommend local markets, artisanal shops and give visitors tips on places to visit between Tuscany and Umbria, locations both within one hour drive distance.

Furthermore, we offer guided tours and also photography tours of the beautiful landscapes of Crete Senesi, Trasimeno, Arezzo, Firenze, Siena, Montepulciano and Val Dorcia. These tours allow our guests to exchange culture with local inhabitants whilst also contribute to their local economy.

As well as sourcing ingredients locally, we also have an organic farm that provides us with seasonal produce. This farm attracts visitors from around the world and is used educationally to teach the young, and the not so young, of effective methods of farming.
