As well as providing employment and retail opportunities in a poor rural area the farm requires guests to sign up to two aims/stipulations:
- Fostering the important relationship between local people and visiting tourists.
- Respecting the cautious use of resources and the fragility of The Mount Kenya Forest and its flora and fauna.
These aims are met by visitors responding to the traditional Kenyan (Kikuyu) welcome and entering into dialogue and some activity with local people. In addition, you will be staying in a totally self sufficient environment. The electricity at the house - even the hot water - is sourced from wind and sun power on site. We have established both a wind generator, solar panels and a solar hot water system. If you try to take a bath and cook atb the same time you may run out of ice for your gin and tonic, but we feel sure that you won't fail to be awe inspired as we have been by the power of the sun and wind!

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
