All services used are locally owned and operated; therefore your money remains 100% in Egypt. Drivers have over 20 years of experience in desert tourism and take care not to destroy vulnerable terrain. That means that they do not cross the Crystal mountains and destroy the fragile enivronment or they keep on the tracks in the white desert rather than just criss-cross it and leaving behind scars which sometimes stay for years.
They cook in front of you, with food bought in the oasis to guarantee freshness and to support the local community. This trip is for people of all ages who enjoy nature. The ecolodge dedicates a certain percentage of its revenue for the local community.
This year we will sponsor about 30 specially designed wastebins to be put up in the village to help keeping the village clean. We will also organise an action day together with school children to collect waste. With this campaign the lodge tries to call attention to the local community to take care of their environment. The newly built hot spring is a warm water pool (about 30°C) where you can swim. The water originates from our own well which is used to feed an organic farm after it leaves the pool. The farm produces at the moment various kinds of vegetable like zucchini, peas, tomatoes, salad, onions and beans.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
