How this holiday makes a difference

The owners Ulric and Dawn are available to chat with guests about St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ history and heritage. Dawn is currently the Executive Director of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Hotel and Tourism Association is a caterer and a hospitality and tourism educator, trainer and assessor and has also been involved in giving talks/lectures to church and other community groups and institutions on such topics as dining etiquette or as an ambassador in making a career in the hospitality industry. Ulric, a retired clergyman, is always available for a chat. They also do complimentary airport drop offs. Subject to demand/availability meals can be prepared through advanced order from catering located on the property.

We expose our staff to training whenever the opportunity arises; in addition we do our own in house training. We give donations both in coin and kind to schools and other deserving charities. We donate cooked food and pastries to the Calliaqua Anglican School, the St.Clair Dacon Secondary School the Girls’ High School, The Girl Guides Association, the Mental Health Hospital, the St. Sylvan’s Church. We also donate food packages to the needy and disabled not only at Christmas but throughout the year. We have in the past provided financial support to needy children to facilitate their Secondary education.

We subscribe to conserving water and electricity. We have primarily showers with only one bath. We use energy saving bulbs and turn off lights and appliances when the apartments are unoccupied. All our apartments are supplied with hot water by means of solar water heaters. We have dusk to dawn security lights around the property. We change our linen every other day. We use vinegar to clean the windows in the apartments and the exterior of the ovens. We use the large plastic bottles for storing juices. Tin cans are used for planting seedlings, used jam jars are donated to a local individual who produces jams and jellies, and fresh herb seasoning bottles and egg crates are returned to the supplier for re-use.

The iguanas on our property are protected and allowed to live freely in their natural environment. We donate food waste to a local pig farmer. We operate a catering business and, as a result, if any of our guests require meals these can be provided.

Our staff are sourced locally. The tradesmen who worked on our apartment project were all sourced locally, and all masons, plumbers, electricians are local and are used on an on going basis. Our purchasing policy is to buy local. We purchase fish from local fisherman. We also purchase mutton, pork and beef from local butchers. We work exclusively with a Vincentian farmer who consistently supplies us with fresh produce and items that are not supplied by this farmer are purchased from the local fruit and vegetable market. We provide our guests with information about restaurants, activities etc. This is also done by our local association through its weekly publication “What’s on in St. Vincent” we place in the apartments publications such as the Ins and Outs, telephone directory and maps.
