What we have done in reference to responsible tourism is:
The hotel does more than twelve annual activities in commitment to the island community by sponsoring sports teams, giving equipment to different social groups and hosting numerous charitable activities, raffles and similar.
The hotel is certified Equalitas Vitae, being fully accessible to disabled people. We offer a descriptive card of the establishment with the conditions of accessibility pick up which help the hotelkeeper in the sale of its facilities and the user has first hand truthful and guaranteed information.
Every credited establishment has an icon that credits it as credit "Adapted" or "Accessible" so that it can be differentiated to the rest and obtain a recognition of guaranteed establishment.
Staff training: We give our staff in house and government training courses. The hotel has a quality system basing on Q and ISO 9001. We give training to all staff in the hotel, carrying out regular courses in all departments. Almost 80% of our staff are from the surrounding community.
We use products from the Canary Islands in our kitchens and buffets. In our conference, we even have a buffet canary weekly. Also in many of our dishes are canaries theme restaurants. All external services for the hotel are undertaken by people from the Canary Islands.
Environment
The hotel is a certified Biosphere Hotel. We minimize energy use by using low energy lighting and a system of timers to ensure that lights are not left on when not needed. We ensure that all appliances are not left on standby when not in use in order to reduce our energy consumption. In the entrance to each room the client must put their room key in the lock to activate the lights and power.
In terms of water saving measures we have low consumption shower and half flush toilets. We only change sheets and towels depending on the client (Towel on the ground / bathtub = please change).
The hotel recycles everything that can be recycled on the island and can be taken to the green dot of the same. The island of Fuerteventura is also a Biosphere Reserve. The hotel does not use any carton packaging. As part of our environmental policy, we hire suppliers that use recyclable or reusable packaging.
