How this holiday makes a difference

Environment:

All guests, household help and family members are encouraged to minimize use of electricity and water. Showers and half flushes are installed in the bathrooms. Kitchen waste and garden waste is composted. Bed linen is changed only on request of the guest or once in two days. Towels are changed every day.

A garden around the house is maintained without use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. The manure from the compost is used instead. The traditional architecture of the building is of ancient construction to allow maximum light and air, minimizing use of electricity.

Community:

Palm Court runs an Orphanage called “Faith” that works with underprivileged children providing care & support to children living with HIV/AIDS. The income from the Homestay goes into funding this NGO. Guests are encouraged to visit the orphanage and all kinds of support from service to donations are welcome.

The Homestay becomes a place for volunteers of this NGO to stay. Volunteers can apply to work here and volunteer program includes teaching, craft work, work related to running orphanage. People who wish to volunteer can send in their resume and if found suitable, can work with the NGO.

All guests of the homestay are encouraged to use taxi services by local transport companies or public transport for guests. The homestay hosts guide them to local markets and help with shopping for crafts and artifacts, especially fabric weavers and craftsmen. Vegetables from the local market are bought for regular use and also served to guests. Thus encourage income to the local community.

Helpers and house help are from the Village called Sirmathura. The hosts support the entire family who would not be making so much money if they stayed in the village. The children of the domestic help who are not interested in academics are provided on the job training in hospitality to enable them to do join hotels.

Accommodation Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
