Our apartment is in a small block (there are strict guidelines for building along this stretch of the coastline to minimise development pressures), built by a local architect, using local labour skills and materials. We use local businesses for our property management and cleaning services.
We provide literature in the apartment on all local facilities - from the best restaurants, farmers market and grocery stores, to exhibitions of local artists and other local events, such as concerts to bus services, bike trails and cycle hire, horse riding tours, walking and gourmet and wine tasting routes.
The area is renowned for its quality seafood, wines, truffles and olive oil and we encourage all guests to take advantage of this local bounty. All literature encourages visitors to use the local farmers’ markets, outlets and village stores. Croatia is a young country with a rich heritage and we provide up-to-date information on the country and its recent cultural and political history.
The water and electricity to the apartment is metered. The shower, heater and air conditioning unit are new, energy efficient models which are all thermostatically controlled. All cleaning materials and bathroom toiletries left for guests are organic and animal welfare friendly. Guests are encouraged to reduce, reuse and recycle. There are shopping bags available in the kitchen for the use of guests. There are recycling facilities 50m from the apartment.
Funtana is an important fishing and agricultural village. It was awarded the most important small tourist resort on the Adriatic. It is a small, friendly village laid out around the castle and church, surrounded by hilly countryside covered with vineyards, olive groves, fields and forests. There is great cycling, horse riding and walking from the doorstep. A path from the apartment leads to the beaches. You can hire bikes and boats locally. Funtana has a small grocers, farmers and fish market and is known for its quality restaurants, all within walking distance of the apartment.
