Our countryside houses provide other visitors with ideas of possible walking paths to do during their stay. Furthermore, information about the local markets is available. These markets are where local farmers sell their products, some all week around and some others just during the weekend. This commercial activity is very much used in the area and it is the main income resource of the local farmers.
The family only employs local people to do the cleaning, maintenance and control of the houses. These local people have been employed by the family generation after generation in all the different areas of the project. The country houses are both family and animal friendly. At the vineyard there are 12 dogs most of them take from the roads or given by people that could not take care of them any more. The family has been supporting a national children care charity organisation, that takes homeless children and provides them with a household and education during their youth years.
Environment
We encourage our customers to reduce water and energy consumption as well as chemical use. This is done through cards, placed in both of the houses advising customers to re-use their towels for a week and to minimize the number of washing machine loads done during their stay. The toilet tanks have the water control system for high or low flows of water when flushing. The cleaning service is done only with neither non-chemical or non-aggressive products, in order to reduce gasses exposed to our environment.
When raining, the water is collected and then used at the vineyard to water the grapes along the year. The water boiler is graduated on the economy level, where the consumption of resources is sufficient to heat the water and not waste energy. This is of high importance here in Gran Canaria, due to its insufficient water supply. These processes are done without reducing visitors' comfort during their stay at the houses.
The light-bulbs used in both the houses, vineyard and office are low consumption. This decreases the energy used and increase the lighting in the room. All the wastage is classified and recycled into different areas such as glass, plastics, organic materials and batteries. This process is done by everyone in the company and is advised to all our visitors
The houses are newly renovated with all natural materials. Many of them are used with high-restored goods from other properties of the family. This has always been very important for the family since they do not only want our visitors to be at a real rural environment, but also to decrease the manufacture of new materials and the cutting of trees and vegetation.
