A former working watermill now restored into a small hotel by Brigitte - a fervent believer in sustainable tourism. Set 1200ft above sea level, overlooking the spectacular Butterfly Gorge, the restoration was quite a feat, due to the location. There was no access road and everything needed for the restoration had to be transported by camels and donkeys. Only locally sourced natural materials and local craftsmen have been used throughout the restoration and building. The swimming pool is fed by the mountain spring and is designed on green principles, totally chemical free. Drinking water is also drawn from this source and provided in recycled bottles.
Fresh organic produce is used in creating all meals and includes home baked bread, muesli, eggs, cheese, butter, honey and preserves for breakfast. The huge, ancient vines that provide dense shading on all the terraces are used for the organic wine which can be enjoyed with the 6 course evening meal. Brigitte also produces and sells cold press organic olive oil, herbs, spices and pekmez a delicious grape molasses and tahin syrup.

Faralya is the first village south of Olu Deniz on the Seven Capes coast, one of the last undeveloped stretches on this coastline and sits above Butterfly Valley -home of the unique Jersey Tiger butterfly. Between June and September butterflies and moths in countless varieties and colours can be seen on the 90 acre valley floor.
Situated at the foot of the watermill is The Lycian way is a 509 km way-marked footpath around the coast of Lycia in southern Turkey, from Fethiye to Antalya . Lycia is the historical name of the Tekke Peninsula, which juts into the Mediterranean on Turkey's southern coast. The mountains rise steeply from the wooded shore and tiny bays, giving beautiful views and varied walking and the highlight of the walk is the stunning descent to Faralya, above the cliffs of Butterfly Valley.
Supporting conservation- Butterfly Valley is now protected as a first class SIT or Grade A priority area and a school is being planned to teach local people about the flora and fauna and how protect it. It will also conduct research and support ecologic farming in nearby areas. Visitors will be encouraged to participate volunteer and demonstrate that tourism can sometimes help preserve, not destroy, natural beauty.
A financial contribution is made per passenger booked to local conservation charities, and we also encourage our customers to offset the carbon emissions of their flights.
