Limousin holiday accommodation

How this holiday makes a difference

We only use/provide, environmentally-friendly cleaning products. We grow our own organic vegetables and in season, will drop off free veg boxes for you to enjoy! We encourage visitors to recycle (recycling banks are a short walk away) and to compost all vegetable waste; compost heaps have been made on-site for this purpose.

We are sure that visitors will embrace the beautiful countryside and open spaces that are right on their doorstep. We also provide information/books on the local wildlife that they can see e.g. the fantastic diversity of birds here that can exist as a result of the low-scale farming that leaves wild hedge-rows intact.

There are also many ‘attractions’ in the area that guests can visit e.g. local Nature Reserves, National Park, lakes – these open spaces all have a benefit to our environment. Guests to our Limousin holiday accommodation are invited to at least learn the French words for day-to-day pleasantries. We have made up a sheet of useful French words that guests can have a look at.

We provide information about the wealth of local activities and services that are on offer here – much of life out here revolves around enjoyable seasonal festivals and activities - we encourage participation in these to create a better understanding of rural Limousin culture. We encourage guests to our Limousin holiday accommodation to use our village shops and to therefore aid the local economy. These sell fine Limousin produce and locally-reared meat.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

My vest memory of the holiday is feeling totally relaxed. The setting is idyllic and so peaceful. You feel miles away from the stresses and strains of normal life. Helped by the fact that, Anna, who owns the cottage goes out of her way to make sure that everything you want or need is there and gives great advice about what to do or see.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

It is very rural - which is lovely but we hadn't appreciated quite how remote it would be. We hired bikes (which Anna kindly sorted out for us) however the area is very hilly and getting anywhere was quite an effort. It really is a holiday for relaxing and taking it easy. Not a holiday for sight seeing or doing lots.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

I think so. You can shop locally, buying most things you need from small independent shops. The cottage comes with it's own vegetable box, home grown from Anna's garden. There is also recycling and composting facilities.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

The holiday was wonderfully. The cottage is gorgeous and has everything you would need. Anna is incredibly helpful and always there to answer any questions. This part of France is quiet and peaceful and exploring it by bike was brilliant fun (although hard work!)

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Attention to detail within the accommodation was excellent. It was tastefully furnished, everything we required was there and it was splotlessly clean. We had a group of 9 people with Learning disabilitiers with us. The fact that we were able to book 6 twin rooms was very unusual but benefitted us greatly with organising the group.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Don't hesitate in contacting the owner if you wish to find ouit further information. She was extremely help and having a group with special needs can sometimes cause resistance. Anna was so welcoming and could not have been more appropriate and professional when dealing with our group.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Yes, we did a lot of our shopping using local bakeries and other retail establishments within St Germain les Belles which is something that we have as an ethos well esttablished within our group already. Also, Anna suggested within the information file that it is good to support the local economy.
Anna is very supported of recycling and composting and all these facilities were available at the house.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent. Having 5 separate en suite bathrooms is so beneficial and comfortable. We felt very well looked after and consider that Anna went above and beyond the call of duty to give us as much support and information as possible. I would like to give the holiday 5 stars but find your 5 star rating criteria inappropriate.
