This tourism venture started in 2002 and now we employ 12 local people. We train local people as guides and teach them English and everything they need to know as guides. We are a profit share company. 15% from the restaurant income goes to a health insurance for our staff. The villas are also a social project and gives work for up to four families living in the villages. A large proportion of what we get from the renting this villas and bungalows go to good causes in the area helping to preserve the culture and environment of our region.
We teach our staff how to keep the eco system of the beach clean in order to protect the fish. We cultivate vegetables in the gardens without fertilizers and chemicals. We have created eco programs through puppet shows in order to tell the school children about recycling.
We supply boxes with the most important food such as rice, dry milk, soap, oil etc. Every month we give a full box to families in the kampong. We will try to help by paying the school fees for the children or helping them to open a little warung. We are setting up a foundation to supply water pump to one of the community villages. We give swimming lessons to the small children of the village.
This holiday is part of the responsibletravel.com and Conservation International Community Based Tourism Programme to support and promote community based tourism ventures that offer significant conservation and development benefits to local communities.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
