Environment
One of the distinctive features of the hotel is its positive attitude towards environmental issues. The hotel lives up to its name: taking on our procedures the World Wide Letter for Sustained Tourism, our Hotel accepts to optimize its internal processes, eliminating or reducing the internal and external impact of its services, installations and activities now and in the future.
Our environmental efforts are certified by ISO 14001 and Biosphere Hotels. Furthermore the hotel is the first hotel of the prestigious “Leading Hotels of the World” group, who has been honored with the “Prize for Environmental Efforts” of the world of TUI Group and many other international distinctions.
But our efforts go even further. We cooperate actively with the Institute for Responsible Tourism in the promotion of one of the mayor projects for the creation of sustainable and non contaminant energy sources on the island of Tenerife by financing by a 100% a photovoltaic plant with an estimated production of 700.000 watts, which covers the needs of the hotel.
We use pool and sewage water (previously purified) for watering our gardens and putting green and installed saving mechanism in all systems of water supply (water taps and flushes). We are currently replacing all common light bulbs by energy saving lamps and implanting a modern and efficient system for the recycling and sustainable management of all solid waste products.
Social responsibility
80% of the employees are from the local community, and we offer them training in all levels, with a special enfacis in the TÜV procedures. One of our objectives is to colaborate with the local economy, there fore we purchase most of the products locally, for example, around 80% of the fruits, vegetables, cheese and fish are bought in the local markets.
We offer guided tours thru our gardens and the nearby Botanical garden; also we offer day excursions to the Teide national park and other places of interest. We support charities and organizations, for example Club de Leones, Rotary Club, etc.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
