How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
We have installed a wood-burning boiler that provides all of our heat and hot water from a sustainable fuel. We have also switched energy supply to Good Energy's 100% renewable tariff. Wood is sourced from the local Forestry Commission plantation and topped up by windfall from the farm. We minimise energy use by using low energy light fittings, keeping appliances to a minimum and buying efficient appliances where they are necessary. We have a towel agreement, use ecological cleaning products and recycle all paper, glass, plastic, cans and compost all organic waste.
We encourage our guests to use public transport and display all relevant information about this and local walks and attractions.
Community
We source as much of our produce as possible from other local businesses and offer for sale a range of locally made arts crafts including artwork, photographs and ironwork.
Landscape
We have extensive information about the local area, and actively promote its natural and historical riches.
