Vegetarian bed & breakfast in West Wales
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
We provide a pickup/drop off service to our customers from the train and bus station, this will discourage excessive car use and promote the use of local transport. There is also a car share in the village and a bus/driver can be hired privately. We also encourage guests to help lower carbon emissions by providing bikes, maps and bus timetables of the area for our guests. At the farm we encourage wildlife by feeding birds, providing bird boxes and carefully managing our hedgerow. All our fruit and vegetables grown here are organic which encourages a prosperous insect population.
90% of our waste is re-cycled – most of it composted then put back in the soil. The wood for our stove is locally sourced.
Last year we took advantage of a government subsidy and installed a foot thick of insulation in its loft to save energy. We also have double glazing in almost all the rooms downstairs and some of the rooms upstairs. All our radiators have individual thermostats.
One of the toilets is a half flush and showers are positively encouraged as this saves on water and our annual fuel cost. All of our lamps in the house use long lasting bulbs.
We re-cycle all paper, cardboard, plastic, printing cartridges, batteries etc.

Community
Large supermarkets are having a significant impact on local shops, pubs and other local services. By providing accommodation in the village, all our customers will be encouraged to use local shops, public houses, post offices and bus services.
Any local produce not grown at the farm is bought at local farms, fairs, markets and Treehouses (An organic whole food retailers in town). Our eggs are purchased at Birchgrove Farm. This is an award winning free range farm about 1 mile from the village.
We always use local services whenever needed including a local plumber to fix the airlock who lives in Llanilar, 3 miles away, the electrician lives in the village and the mechanic in the town , 9 miles away.
