How this holiday makes a difference

We get all of our electricity from solar power. We minimise energy use by using energy efficient light bulbs and appliances and turning off lights and appliances when not in use. We have a laundry scheme where we only change towels and sheets after 7 days. We use green cleaning products such as ecover in the yurts. We cultivate our garden without the use of pesticides and fertilisers.

We use our own compost and manure from local farms. We encourage wildlife in our garden by clearing scrub and have seen many new species of birds and flowers return. We compost all of our food and garden waste. We recycle glass, plastic and paper and have facilities for our guests to recycle their waste too.

We support the local community through our Yurt accommodation in Andalucia by encouraging our guests to visit local attractions, eat in local restaurants and by local produce. We also encourage our guests to use public transport or local services.

Yurt accommodation in Andalucia

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The glorious setting and the constant sunshine! Also the food cooked by our host, Henry, was always fabulous! It was intereting to stay in a yurt, and to shower in the (almost) open air! So peaceful and scenic, and pleasant company too.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

You may prefer to have a car if you want to travel around the area independently -although we managed with taxis organised at the hotel - or be prepared to seriously relax. The walk into Cortes has some uphill gradient, so not to be undertaken in full sun!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Yes - local food was evidence, and the services of local businesses were used. Solar power clearly in use.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Henry clearly worked hard as she faced staff shortages and there were one or two small problems (lack of water, loo rolls, compost) but overall we relaxed right into it.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
