Environment
We accept the lay of the land and reduce energy as well as using what's local and sustainable for our energy.
We strive on reducing the carbon footprint of the Resort by implementing numerous projects to save the environment such as Energy conservation and The Green room project where guests are asked to let us know when they want their linen changed and a recycling program implemented throughout the Resort. The Resort also lies on historical grounds hence we have implemented a new system where guests will know the history of certain areas of the hotel. This helps them appreciate more the area as well as understanding the history that lies beneath. We strive that involving the guest in eco-friendly measures such as tree planting activities and involving guests in participating in Earth Hour where lights are switched off for an hour as a symbolic measure for reducing the carbon footprint.
Waste - The Westin Dragonara Resort has implemented a system of waste separation. This is being done both by our guests with the use of waste separation bins as well as waste separation and recycling in our offices and meeting rooms. We have also implemented a system where guests are encouraged to reduce waste as much as possible.
The Westin Dragonara Resort has also been Eco Certified for the next two years with the implementation of various eco friendly measures such as glass insulation, room sensors to control temperature as well as water sensors to reduce on water wastage. A rooms management system is being implemented in all the 340 rooms that The Westin has and this will surely impact the carbon footprint of this resort.
Community
The resort has also planted herbs which are now being used by our chefs when preparing dishes. Local produce is also used extensively in all menus and outlets to promote the local cuisine and also keep the local traditions going. We believe that the local food is tastier and healthier than imported goods due to the use of less food enhancers, that is why we strive to offer guests a healthy meal whatever the time of day.

Building on the use of local produce, traditions and culture and explained to our guests by showing them how things are made in Malta. Guests are also invited to participate i a recycling program which we have implemented in all guest rooms as well as adhering to the green room project where guests are asked to notify us when they would like their linen and bath towels changed, This saves on water consumption as well as reducing the use of cleaning materials.
The Westin Dragonara Resort also lies on historical grounds. We are now implementing a system where through QR codes these historical sites are identified to our guests and guests can learn about the history behind these grounds. This gives more value to our guests as well as enables the resort to preserve these historical areas.
