Varanasi homestay in India
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
Water and energy are 02 most important factors of a human life.We have created water conservation system in the eastern part of our land at Garden Area,by lowering the area surface,we collect rain water into our ground to re-lift this highly pure water source from a deep Bore Well of 300 Ft. All toilets are equipped with low water consuming Shower System and high speed Flushing Systems,so as to minimize use of water. We are consuming Hydro Electricity provided by the Govt.We have installed only CFL Lights everywhere in this building to save energy. The architecture of this building is based on the ancient principals of "VASTU", so as to receive maximum Sunlight and Air , to minimize dependency on energy. All visiting guest, staff workers and family members are constantly encouraged to consume minimum of water and electricity. All disposable garbage of the house and HOMESTAY is collected in bags to be handed over to Govt Garbage Collectors next morning for recycling.
Community
Last 30 years owner of the HOMESTAY,has been engaged in manufacturing and trading of Handwoven Textiles and Craftsmanship , a work well known from this area of Varanasi. He has been associated with woman organisation of the craftswoman of this area,to encourage maximum work from them,so as to make them financially and socially self reliant. He has been managing a display of all these textile products of Silk,Cashmere and Pashmina at the HOMESTAY,so as to encourage local people and visiting foreign guest to buy these handmade products .Major part of the profit of these sales is going directly to these woman Handicraft Organisation.
All guests of the homestay are encouraged to use taxi services by local transport companies or public transport for guests. The homestay hosts guide them to local markets and help with shopping for crafts and artifacts, especially fabric weavers and craftsmen. Vegetables from the local market are bought for regular use and also served to guests. Thus encourage income to the local community.
Complete house and rooms of the HOMESTAY are decorated with beautiful Hand Carving work on Teak Wood, and we use only locally hand made bed covers and curtains of Silk,or,Cotton.Owner himself, a lover of all arts and crafts from Indian origin, use only these crafts to decorate the house,so as to encourage these artisans to continue this heritage and legacy of hand crafts.
We have 08 employees right now and all of them are local people from the town or countryside.Even if a employee is non English speaking in the beginning,he/she is taught enough English by the family of the owner,so as to provide good service to visiting guest.Owner is providing very fair and good working conditions to all of them,so as to encourage development in their skills
