Environment

We are committed to keeping Puglia as beautiful as can be, and to protect the world's resources as far as possible.

There are recycle bins for sorting rubbish, low energy bulbs and appliances, solar panels to heat water and create electricity and the grounds are maintained organically. Please help us by using the bins appropriately, and turning off bulbs and appliances when not needed! Our water comes from a well that is fed by an aquifer, which in turn is fed by the sea, filtered through the local limestone. We're lucky to have a sustained water source, but still use the rainwater wherever possible to maintain the garden and small lawn.

In winter, warm yourself by the wood burning stove, knowing that the wood is from prunings from the 200 olive trees and other fruit and nut trees on the land. This fire also feeds heat to the underfloor heating system, along with the solar panels. In the summer, help yourselves to the organic fruit and nuts growing. There will still be plenty left over for the local birds and wildlife.

Community

On arrival we'll give you directions to the local farms where you can purchase veggies, milk, cheese and meat directly. We're also blessed that our towns still have proper shops; fishmongers and bakers with real ovens - we'll direct you to the best. We employ local people and maintain the property with local products wherever possible, and promote our beloved Puglia to travellers and tourists whenever possible.
