Environment
Our location is out of the city and our villas, apartments and gardens are designed to be in harmony with nature. We even brought some nature in to our patios. Our gardens are a great way for active, busy, and very stressed out people to take some time to relax and get back in touch with nature. Every once in a while we all need to relax, unwind and enjoy a bit of time in solace with nature and revel in its beauty. No need to go hiking or biking to experience all that. Being in touch with nature and the great outdoors can help you feel more removed from the stress of daily life. That is why we prefer our garden to grow on seeds brought by nature, but we also planted some kind of flowering trees to make our gardens colorful and perfumed. Due to our imitation of a wilderness with some lawns it is home to a great number of bird species (swans, ducks, ibis, kingfisher, peacock, pigeons, owls, etc).
Because many people feel an urge to connect with nature that goes unfulfilled, while you may not have the time to enjoy nature each day, we provide you with such a piece of nature right outside Chiang Mai. That way you can stay in touch with the hustle and bustle of 'life' and enjoy all what the North of Thailand has to offer to tourists... especially if it refers to the peace of nature we would be very pleased to help you feel some of this connection. Optionally we offer all kind of transport made by locals, like tuk-tuk, songthaew but we also offer a LPG powered car to our guests.
In an effort to limit energy consumption we prefer our guests to use the ceiling fans even if we have installed energy saving AC's in our villas, and ask our guests to close the lighting of the terraces at the night time. We have a well and we use the water of the lake to water the gardens. Our staff is instructed to bring clean plastic bags and elastics to a local shop to re-use them. Our staff separate glass, plastic and paper to sell to a recycle company, that way they make some extra income.
Community
We employ local people to help us run our rentals thus creating employment for the local population. Older ladies who have lost their husband, divorced, or ladies who did work in karaoke bars are employed. Those people basically lack the opportunity to find work. Their activity and social contact will improve and it will reduce their feeling of helplessness which often accompanies depression. It enables them to participate in a more enjoyable and social life, by being invited to the local activities and celebrations... or simply to buy something they only could dream of. Because Thailand is said to be a country of individualists... it lacks a lot with social organization. There is no philanthropic organization that could help those who suffer inactivity by lending money at low rates... which reduces also their opportunities. This is the reason why we have chosen for those who are underprivileged... they have at least one good reason to live.
We provide guidance by local guides to our guests for the places to do sightseeing and by mediation of our local staff our guests could be involved in activities through the local population which ensures the tourists spent to reach the grass root level. Guests can visit the multiple archeological sites of former Chiang Mai, as well as some National Parks and Royal Projects in Sankamphaeng area.
