Salzburg chalet, Austria
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
One of the many reasons, in our opinion, which make Austria a fantastic country to live in is the countrys attitude towards the environment and sustainable energy sources. We have embraced their values and strive to make sure all our waste and that of our guests is recycled as much as possible. Plastic, Glass, Paper, Metal, Bio. Our hot water and central heating system is powered by a local district power plant fuelled by locally sourced bio waste. Wood that would otherwise rot away on the mountainside is collected and burnt at the specially designed planted to heat the entire village. We collect and store rain water as well as using a local underground spring to water our Garden, plants and window boxes. Nearly half of Austria, 47.2 per cent of the country’s total area to be exact, is covered by forest. The forests hold 1.1 billion cubic metres of useable wood. Around 31 million new cubic metres grow every year, and only two-thirds of this volume is harvested. This means that the total forested area in Austria is growing steadily. So we and our guests can relax safe in this knowledge when using our wood burning stove. The We also like to think we have done our part by ensuring all of our refurbishment work has been carried out by local businesses and wherever possible all materials used have been purchased locally.
Community
Having lived and worked in the area for now many ,many years, we love nothing more than to share our knowledge of and passion for the local area. We know it all from the quietest pistes to the most scenic gorge walks, the restaurants that serve the best locally produced steak or the Après ski bars serving the most delightful Pinzgau schnapps, and all the best day trip suggestions. Where to enjoy the beers in the old town of Innsbruck and buy the tastiest chocolate in Salzburg. Whether walking or mountain biking is your thing, we know the best routes for you the follow (and have all the maps), we can show you the quaintest huts to stop at along the way to recharge your batteries. Whatever the time of year the Zell am See-Kaprun region always has plenty to suit your tastes. There is almost every winter sport imaginable. And in the summer we’ve got mountain biking, rafting, sailing, golf, rock climbing, tennis, horse riding, and of course all the walking/ hiking trails you can handle, plus much more. The nearby town of Zell am See is bursting with Austrian charm & character and the crystal clear waters of the lake combined with the surrounding mountains, really do provide a beautiful picture postcard setting. In short we will go that extra mile to ensure your chalet experience is unforgettable.
