Environment
Au Repos du Bouleau offers a sustainable tourism future and reflects our attitude in our ecologically sensitive:
1. Management and reducing the volume of waste by our guests and customers by:
a. Recycling and composting bins with our well identified in all rooms, on the various floors of the house and also by the presence of our recycling bins and compost outside.
b. Choosing toilet paper, tissues and paper towels made from 100% recycled material;
c. Using paper made from 100% recycled material and our printing double-sided paper documents only when necessary;
d. Purchase of low packaging.
2. Water management by the hosts and our customers:
a. Launder bedding and towels on request (at an extended stay) to reduce the emission of cleaning products while significantly decreasing the amount of wastewater discharged to sewers and the energy used for cleaning.
b. Reduced consumption of water with shower heads at a controlled rate.
c. Using biodegradable soap for your laundry in cold water.
d. Reduction to 99% of cleaning chemicals through the use of magic all-purpose cloths and window and a steam mop.
3. Energy management for our clients and guests:
a. Use of energy efficient appliances not certified "Energy Star" (eg, front washer, dryer moisture sensor, dishwasher sensing dirt, etc.).
b. Use of non-energy light bulbs.
c. Reduce the use of heating and / or air conditioner customers during their absence and / or vacant room.
d. Replacing our old wood stove for a wood furnace in accordance with the EPA and reduce our pollution.
e. Using a dual fuel heating system and reduce our electricity use.
f. Using outdoor lighting to solar power.
4. Management of pesticides and fertilizers by the hosts:
a. We only use natural fertilizers (compost our own) and no pesticides are used on the ground outside.
Community
Passion fuels the owners of Au Repos du Bouleau. From the beginning the hosts believed in the tourism potential of Témiscamingue and development alliances with the community. Visionary, they serve only local products and became members of the Association of agri-tourism and gourmet tourism Quebec. Our efforts earned us a Level 2 certification by Recyc-Québec. Au Repos du Bouleau's hosts are two lovers who are committed to the development of their region.
Since our opening, we have established links and partnerships with most sites and attractions in the vicinity of the house which allowed us to develop a networking affecting the tourism industry of the Témiscamingue region but also in the region and the Abitibi North Eastern Ontario. Au Repos du Bouleau provides peace and comfort to passersby while allowing them to discover the beautiful area of Témiscamingue, friendly people, its history, its culture with its many festivals and local products.
