Environment
We have a variety of Wildlife around our estate,Orikko is situated in a place called Panjala which means a place where wild boars visit,a variety of snakes and birds are also a part of our environment.We have a famous herpetologist,Dr Ravindranath Aithal visit us and provide information about wildlife,flora and fauna.We also have created awareness about the waste management and conduct workshops creating awareness amongst youth. we are in talks with the local governing body to adopt a hillock in order to promote afforestation.some of our other endeavours include:
Creating awareness among the general public with special concentration on children and youth about the importance of conservation of forests,wildlife and maintenance of the ecological balance.
Creating awareness on the perils of plastics and promoting the use of eco friendly products, and educating general public to maintain the environment plastic & pollution free.
Conservation of our natural resources and prevention of encroachment,misuse and tampering with the original course of Nature .
Identify and rehabilitate endangered species of animals,birds and reptiles rescued from exploitative environments.
Creating awareness among the youth about the existence of the extensive nature reserves.
Creating awareness on richness of the natural habitat in which we dwell and the richness of its flora & fauna.
Promotion of Research & development for the restoration of nature reserves,conservation rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife, with expert guidance.
Promote afforestation
Study Ear mark and assist in development and maintenance of nature reserves.
Educate general public and acclamatise them to the existence of wildlife around them and to remove myths on their perils to human life hence promoting co existence.
Creating eco proactive spirit amongst youth and generating interest, enthusiasm and a sense of social responsibility towards protection, maintenance and restoration of ecological balance.
Community
We have made arrangements for cultural programs where local artists participate and give information about their art form. Local people with wide knowledge of the western Ghats belt are hired as guides to take our guests for trekking and wilderness tourism. While on treks we encourage locals to prepare delicious and hygienic cuisine thus providing them a source of income.
An increasing number of local youth are moving out of the town in search of better income and city life.trying to bring in different forms of employment which is interesting and shall yield good income persuading the younger generation to respect their land and the heritage of their birthplace.
Promoting the importance of Agriculture and horticulture and persuading more youth to study and implement advanced technology in their fields
We are planning to set up a arecanut plate manufacturing unit,thus providing employment and to manufacture eco friendly product.
Promoting various outdoor adventure activities amidst nature such as Abseiling,cycling,rock climbing,kayaking,trekking,camping to name a few.
Encouraging children to enjoy the richness and beauty of nature by venturing into the world of wildlife & adventure expeditions.
Promoting motorsports like off roading,4 X4 Rallies, Biking expeditions,with a cause hence providing publicity for the cause.
Promotion of eco, wildlife and cultural tourism thus making puttur a tourist spot.
we are planning to form a ecowild society campaigning for use of environment friendly products to prevent deforestation.
