How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
We strive to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We recycle most everything, we compost, save rainwater and use low voltage light bulbs.
We have thermo-stats fitted on all the radiators, water save bags are in the lavatory cisterns and the house is also fully double glazed. We encourage guests to re-cycle and turn off lights when rooms are not in use.
We have arranged bikes for guests to hire. A well serviced bus stop is a 2 minute walk from the house and the train station is 1km. Guests are encouraged to walk to the town, restaurants, mountains, golf course and beaches.
During the booking process for your holiday we reduce paper usage by corresponding by email wherever possible and only printing correspondence which is legally binding. We recycle our ink cartridges and envelopes. Paper which cannot be recycled is shredded and composted.
By keeping up to date on environmental issues and encouraging our guests to be more environmentally sensitive. We like our guests to help us and provide a green section in the welcome folders in our rooms to do this.
We are continually looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact, however small or large they may be. We will continue to monitor water and energy consumption to help this.
Community
We encourage our guests to walk to the town of Conwy, dine and shop there. Our town is very quaint with many shops still owned by local families. We have local guides for guided walking tours, who suport our ideals and are knowledgeable about the history of the surrounding area.
We believe in being as sustainable as possible. We support local farmers markets, organic farms and shop at local shops and encourage our guests to do the same. We believe in buying fruits and vegetables that grow here and are in season and employ local tradesman for remedial works on our holiday rentals.
All these issues make a great difference to the economic welfare of the local community by providing employment from tourisim to local people and tradesmen. We minimise the use of our own car by walking or using public transport if possible. We do not use chemicals in the gardens and wash at 30 °C and although we have a tumble drier, guests are encouraged to dry washing on lines in the garage.
We are continually looking to improve our support for our community and encourage others, and our guests, to do the same.
