We get all our electricity from a green energy scheme, whilst paying a premium for using 100% renewable energy. We minimise energy use by using energy efficient light bulbs and appliances and turning off lights and appliances when not in use. Rain water is collected for use through out the resort, we have showers and half flush toilets to reduce water use. Waste water is treated through biocycle plants and returned to the rainforest. We have a laundry scheme where we only change towels and sheets when guests request them. Green eco cleaning products are used such as Enjo in the property. Chemical usage is at an absolute minimum. We cultivate our garden without the use of pesticides and fertilisers and encourage wildlife throughout the property through strictly maintaining the endemic ecosystem and established feeding stations. We are fully eco accreditted and are a member of a number of conservation based organisations and trusts.
The property actively supports onsite scientific research projects conducted by JCU and CSIRO staff. Our guests receive comprehensive information about the conservation of the natural environment. We are dedicated to the preservation and stewardship of a pristine and unique old growth rainforest and the rare and endangered wildlife that inhabit it.
All our staff are employed locally. We also encourage our guests to buy local produce from the nearby towns for their meals, and we use local services such as builders for maintenance. We support the local community by using local businesses and services wherever possible.
We also support a number of charities by donating money and prizes such as Variety Club of Australia, CWA, Angel Flight, Oxfam, assorted local community groups, local sporting associations and support groups.
You can trust responsibletravel.com reviews because, unlike many other schemes, reviews can ONLY be written by people who we have verified have been on the holidays. In addition, we don't run these holidays ourselves - our only interest is giving you the best independent advice.
