How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
We from Atelier Djignaba promise to sustain our environment by not cutting old trees in our lands, but by planting, by producing renewalable energy by solar, by keeping autonomy in providing drinking water by a borhole and to be as much autosuffisant in production of food- for example having a vegetable garden, keeping free chicken and ducks. We are taking care of the shores of our bolong in our area.
We educate children and local people to take care of the environment, not to cut trees. We protect the big sea turtles which pond by our beaches. Birdreseve by digging a lake: We have dug a lake to keep at least a variety of 100 different birds arround our little Bolong and in our area.
We kept a private black forest to offer refuge to snakes, antelopes, and different birds. In our domain we kept a private black forest of minimum 0,5 ha to offer refuge to snakes, antelopes, other small animals and different birds. Preserving wild forest fruit trees: Wild forest fruits like Kabas-liana tree, ditahs, tols, cositos and others which are on the best way to be replaced by Mangoes and orange trees, we save them and preserve them in our land. We even saw them out and replant them. We have even a plane to plant forest trees together with the youth of the village allong the streets throughout the whole village. Replanting the coast: And we are engaged to plant coconuts and filaos to preserve our washed out beaches.
Community
We introduce young people in different professions-like vegetable gardening, fruit trees, European kitchen and nutritional basics, how to transform fruits and conserve them-making jam and syrups.
We produce our own vegetables in the valleys of our domain, where young people of the village work and learn gardening. As well we planted a fruit plantation where continuesly some people are employed.
In our art school local artists are teaching in their speciality- Like traditional pottery, is taught by a lady who learned it from her grandmother. African sculpturing by a local artist, batiks by a traditional dyer , dance and drum by an experienced musician and dancer, Cora playing by a griot-a traditional story keeper.
We support a clean, solidaire and respectful tourism, which are based on a cultural exchange to protect our children from the negative aspects of tourisme. We sensitize the population from the dangers of tourisme, like prostitution, paedophilia, drugs, alcohol and make proposals how we could develop a clean and respectful tourism, how to make the village more attractive for families with children.
Our guests will get to know and experience the real Africa, which is full of generosity, full of wisdom and with his own and very rich culture. We will visit traditional healers, which until now live in harmony and respect with the plants and the earth.
