How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
We support environmental policies of Grajonay National Park so we have signed a commitment with the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (ECST). We actively participate in the forum of the Charter in La Gomera to raise awareness among neighbours and visitors to preserve the natural environement.
We encourage our guests to recycle paper, plastics, glass and used oil.
We offer our visitors, walking routes through different places of the island to discover its wonderful landscapes and contribute to their conservation.
We attent our customers´suggestions to help us improve the quality of our equipament and the posibility of environmental improvements.
We sent an e mail to our guests before their arrival, informing that we are adhered to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism and we work with the Park in the coservation of natural areas of the island. We request the cooperation of our visitors to complete a questionnaire before their return to let us know their suggestions for improvement of those aspects and trasmit it to the managers of the Garajonay National Park.
We send periodically to the Park our house occupation data with the characteristics and origin of the customers, as well as the impressions that they have given about their stay in the island and their point of view about the hospitality and tourism services in general. We also ask the clients about the protected areas conservation.
We have taken steps in our house to save energy, such as:
Thermal and acoustic insulation of the upper level of the house.
Solar panels for hot water.
Drip irrigation in the garden.
Low-energy lights throughout the house.
People´s detectors in the bathroom lights.
Timers in the garden and stairs lights.

Our family has always hired local companies to the refurbishment of the house which have been done so far.
We always hire people from the area for cleaning and maintenance.
We advertise local restaurants and local products in our web page and in the welcome folder.
We collaborate with companies belonging to the European Charter advising our guests guided tours, boat trips, restaurants and other services offered by local businesses.
We also facilitated the visits to the artisans in ceramics, wood, basketry, wineries and local enterprises that produce cheese, cakes, and other products of the area.
We actively collaborate with the forum of the Charter and associations in the area for conducting training courses that improve the knowledge of professionals of the island.
