Environment
Environment Responsibility
1. The lodge is run with the help of solar power inverters supported by 6-8 hrs of electric supply through a canopied green generator. Outdoor path lighting is also solar powered, apart from this there are 12 LED lights inside the rooms and 17 portable solar lanterns.
2. All the cottages and kitchen are equipped with solar powered water heaters. Wild Tusker Lodge is perhaps the only lodge in Corbett region which promotes solar power in this manner.
3. The host staff that houses more than 14 persons is being equipped with a weed-water recycling plant. This recycling plant will help us reuse water for watering plants.
4. The landscaping has been done with an emphasis on minimum damage to natural trees. And to minimize water usage there are no manicured lawns.
5. The lodge is completely open from two sides to encourage free movement of wildlife within the property. The property has less than 15 % of pucca constructed area.
6. Garbage from the lodge is segregated into organic and inorganic waste and suitably disposed.
7. The emphasis is on procuring local farm produce from the weekly village market at Mohan.
8. Visitors who visit the lodge by public transport will be offered Green Tariff for minimizing carbon foot print.
Community
Community Empowerment:
1. Social welfare fund will promote health, education and handicraft programmes.
2. Neighboring villages will also be gifted solar lanterns, torches to encourage the use of renewable power.
3. Will be encouraging local farmers in agricultural produce by buying directly from farmers at market rates.
4. The lodge is in the process of establishing a network for promoting the concept of home hospitality; guests will be invited to the homes of village folk in the neighborhood of the property where they can enjoy local cuisine and have firsthand experience of local traditions and art.
5. We promote extensive walking itineraries to explore the local area and encourage the interaction with the community. Thus ensuring the sharing of information of the surrounding scape to the outside world.
6. Since enjoying an unique location we would promote host community to be nature interpreters.
7. We recognize local issues and actively campaign to address them.
8. In consultation with G.B. Pant Agricultural University, we intend to help the farmers to help increase the produce and safeguards.
9. Through workshops we desire to evolve souvenirs for visitors.
10. We involve wide network of local entrepreneurs to fulfill our demand of vehicles for safaris and transfers from the rail head and bus station.
