Environment
Palm Beach Lodge is a lodge that looks after it's wildlife. We have quite a few endangered species near our property. The one being the dougon (saltwater hippo) and the other a rare owl. We realise that these animals are special creatures that needs looking after. We conserve the surrounding area by always keeping the beach clean and try our best to prevent the killing of these animals by making them a tourist attraction. Tourism is a big asset to Mozambique and the community knows this.
We free the land from pollution by recycling and keeping our beaches clean. Nothing goes to waste at Palm Beach Lodge. We recycle all our cans and all the cooldrink bottles gets reused. Even spare food are given to the community.
Our buildings were built by using local materials, such as sambiri logs and a palm thatched roof, that gives an atmosphere and style that is inherent to Mozambique. It also promptes the bussiness of the local people where we get our supplies from.
We recommend using the local dhows as transport as these are environment friendly ways of travel and they are a means to help the local people. Our environment is the core of our business. If it was not for Mozambique's natural beauty we would not be able to give you a perfect holiday spot.
Community
We know all about the local community and have made friends with them. We therefore always want to help them by using their shops and local restaurants. Making the experience in Mozambique even more authentic. They have lived in this country long before you and I and are much more accuinted with it's laws and nature. We therefore promote their wellbeing by using them to do some of the trips like quad biking or kayak trips.
We recognise local issues like poverty and disease. We help better these issues by providing jobs to the locals in our lodge. We have 10 members of staff at the moment and we are hoping to grow this number as we expand. Mozambique is a Malaria area and we are always willing to provide medicine for those who are infected.
We realise the needs of our workers and therefore pay them a reasonable salary. We never let any food go to waste. The food that does not get used in the lodge are given to our workers to give to their families. We also provide workers with clothes and we always contribute to their events. Such as the yearly music festival.
Palm Beach Lodge is always willing to contribute to the community and it's needs. We realise that we will not be able to make a living without these wonderfull people.
