How this holiday makes a difference

our green hotel policies and procedures include the following:-
Energy saving light bulbs are used throughout the hotel
Guests are encouraged to participate in our green policies by re-using their towels, if they wish to do so, having sheets changed less often, and to not use water in a wasteful manner
All rooms have electronic key operated power switches to reduce energy usage when rooms are unoccupied
We currently recycle 80% of our waste
External, corridor and public toilet lights are sensor and timer operated so that electricity is not wasted in low-use hours
Our hot water boilers, cylinders & pumps operate only on demand and are therefore extremely efficient
Services management systems in place to control temperatures throughout the hotel
Our delivery requirements are half of those of a traditional hotel, and orders are consolidated, where possible, to reduce transportation costs
We offer Fairtrade tea and coffee in all mini-kitchens
We have in place a Responsible Visitor Charter:
At base2stay Liverpool, we understand that by making positive choices we can all reduce our effect on the environment. We welcome the support of our guests in assisting base2stay and Liverpool to become a more sustainable destination and encourage guests to join us and:
Conserve Energy - reduce energy by switching off lights and closing windows if heating or air conditioning is on.
Give Cars and Cabs a Rest - avoid cars, if only for the day. Many of Liverpool's attractions are within a short walk of the hotel, ask our reception team for directions.
Be Water Wise - Please use water wisely. Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth and adhere to towel policies or other water saving initiatives.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - Assist us by avoiding over packaged goods or say no to that extra carrier bag. base2stay currently recycles over 80% of it waste.
Community
The base2stay concept was created around the principles of sustainability, which includes social sustainability. Without a bar or restaurant, base2stay wants its guest not only to avoid the usual, expensive hotel extras and instead to spend money in the local community and neighbourhood, so that base2stay acts as a local economic multiplier. This also adds to the economic sustainability of the concepts as it doesn't waste resources by replicating or creating under-utilised facilities that are better provided locally, as well as offering economic value to our guests.
Through partnerships with local restaurants and cafes that offer discounts to guests, without any commission to base2stay, local businesses benefit from extra visitor spend and our guests benefit from greater value and choice, staying in control of what and where they spend their money. This has the added advantage that guests are encouraged to explore our neighbourhood, and to live more like a local than a tourist.
We want our guests to Eat Local, Buy Local and See Local - support local producers and services, and experience the true flavour of what Liverpool has to offer. We want our guests to support Green businesses - there are hundreds of businesses in Liverpool trying to reduce their carbon footprints through the Green Business Tourism Scheme for Liverpool.
Each year base2stay selects a charity to support, and our current chosen charity is Help for Heroes, to support those who have been wounded in Britain's current conflicts.
