Environment
Building: Zenthe by Sartoria Privata is been built in a 1700 old "palazzo". All vaults ceilings have ebeen restored and whenever possible we left the old walls. The arch at the main entrance is the original and we managed to preserve it.
Below Zenthe there are many ruins of the ancient roman town of Brindisi and we left everything untouched.
Waste: we recycle and differenciate all waste produced in Zenthe and we encourage our customers and friends visiting Zenthe to differenciate all the waste. We also invite all customers to leave shoes at the entrance so that less water is needed to clean the floor at Zenthe which only needs being swept on a daily basis.
Waste differenciation is made with then help of the local community which separates plastic, paper, glass and humid every other day.
In Zenthe candles are used more than electricity. Where electricity is used to light up the old "palazzo", we use the Futronix system which dimmes lights in a way that leads to a 60% savings.
Clients are offered bycicles to go around Brindisi and we also recommend to visit the local Natural Resorts (like Torre Guaceto) by bike. Every morning we have a yoga class at 5:30 am anc clients through yoga and meditation aquire a more zen like approach to life.
Community
We organise local trips to local places like the Riserva Naturale di torre Guaceto and do youga with our customers there. We also organise trips to local wine producers where customers can taste local produces.
We use local products at zenthe. for instance the bottles containing soaps and shampoo have been made manually by artisans in the area. Customers are invited to eat fruits and local produces at Zenthe where an healthy life style is recommended. While we offer also bottled water to clients, we encourage them to drink tap water purified with black coal.
We at Zenthe publish quite often big 3m x 6m posters whereby we encourage locals to respect the environment and the "res publica". We have come to be known in the community as those who fight to preserve the environment. One of these posters compared Italy and Brindisi in particular to Singapore. In Singapore people throwing a chewingum in the street are invited to clean the streets for 5 hours a day for 2 days. Zenthe is like a templum and by being like a templum it aims to improve the area around it hence making a small step in improving the ambience in Brindisi.
More than once already Zenthe is being sponoring events whereby the local community has been cleaning the beaches around Brindisi.
