Norfolk yurt & tipi accommodation, England
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
We are surrounded by rabbits that are left to enjoy life .On the ponds geese come back each year to breed and lots of birds from the cuckoo to the pied wagtail call it home there are owls and also bats flying around in the evening sky . We recycle glass ,cardboard, and tin foil. we re-use as much as we can from a deck made out of pallets to a oak parquet floor that was going to be burnt but after three days sanding and varnishing we brought it back to its former glory. All the outdoor tables and chairs have been saved from landfill as i used to work at a recycling center many of these are teak and just needed sanding and oiling . Water has to be carried about fifty yards this tends to make people very carefull about wasting it . We do not have electricity in the yurts so no tvs lights are supplied by solar lights .
The tipi poles came from a wood less than a mile away and all our family and friends spent weeks hand stripping the bark . We have sown wild flowers and put in flower beds wich attract bees and lots of insects the feild next to us is used for grazing cattle so you may be woken by the odd moo
Community
We support the village farm shop that is on site by buying everything from barbeque briquettes ,eco briquettes for the woodburners made out of sawdust and straw to locally produced foods .Our customers and those of the campsite help keep the farm shop and cafe turning over wich inturn offers employment year round to a few local people but more importantly it has given the local villagers a meeting place somewhere to pick up there paper and buy locally produced vegetables etc . and also discuss village life and meet friends.
We recommend people try yaxham mill restaurant it is about a mile walk away. All the staff and management at Yaxham Waters Campsite are friendly and do there utmost to ensure all guest at the campsite have a enjoyable stay. I try to meet and greet all my guest and spend a great deal of time making them feel welcome and helping them settle in advising them of what is on offer in the local area and beyond ie the Norfok Broads and the clean beaches Norfolk has to offer .As we are a small setup we do not employ any staff directly as myself and family are hands on ensuring a wonderful stay .
Landscape
As we are based on a campsite surounded by nature it is not difficult to promote the landcape that they can enjoy from the adjacant field with its magical cows that come and go as if by magic there is a secret tunnel under the main road to the actual area we use that was once a tractor path but now has wild flowers lots of trees that make you feel you are miles from anywhere.
The hammocks between the trees where you can lay and listen to the birds and be happy to be at one with the land and in the evening it gets better as you and your friends all sit around the fire chatting and having a barbeque watching the night sky listening to the owls and admiring the trees all lit up by solar lights making for wonderful memories of your luxury camping experience
