Wildlife - Raudsilla is surrounded by wonderful nature and we use it as one of our advantages, we emphasize to keep it always clean for the next visitors. Wildlife is one of the reasons why a lot of people come to us - to see everything that's genuine and wild straight from the nature.
Waste is something we have always recycled. We even have made rag carpets to our cottages instead of the doors - just like old times. And just to keep it cozy we preheat our cottages with campfires in the middle.
Water - Pearl River is the only river in Estonia that has freshwater pearl musses (Margaritifera margaritifera) and it flows through the complex. That's why we don't use shower gels or shampoos in our sauna instead we offer natural handmade soaps for all the visitors.
Buildings - We are unique in our buildings that are mostly made of natural and local timber. We have restored old building instead building new - it's just our style.
Raudsilla is using mostly local suppliers for food and catering, we try to offer everything that's local and different from everyday use. Our food is made on living fire, wood-stoves, wok pans, ember. For soaps and detergents we can only choose suppliers that are nature friendly.
Community
Friends and neighbors are the ones we would love to cooperate the most because it's easier and more exotic for us and for the visitors, locals get their own benefits in industrial way from that too. We use homemade food from local farms and we try to involve them for year-to-year spring voluntary works.
Raudsilla has earned the best ranking in Quality Systems of Estonian recreational village and camp Accommodation enterprises which has also one category for sustainable tourism. It's given out also for service and additional activity possibilities.
Our local community has helped us on our spring fixing works after long winter. Whoever comes up with new offer or service from the village or close by we try to involve them as much as possible. In our website their services will be promoted as uniquest things you can experience while being in Raudsilla.
For our quests we try to introduce already on our website that it's going to be something unique and different. It a place where they can plug themselves out for the whole presence and enjoy homemade foods and exotic Estonia in a way they've never experienced. It's a place that Estonians visit again and again because of its naturalness but tourists form abroad have never experienced until Raudsilla.
