Relationship with the surrounding community
Montalvo homestead is located in the vicinity of the village of Montevil. Montalvo has created a project to promote organic farming practices through the creation of a collective garden, involving residents of Montevil. In order to value the products of the region, have supported farming by encouraging the production of carolino rice, a national variety with international recognized quality for over 100 years, with the affectation of about 30 acres of floodplain for lease to small farmers. We produce vegetables and fruits, citrus, apricots, peaches, apples in organic production and supply most of our needs with fresh organic vegetables and fruit.
We are one of several tourist facilities available around this region and have been organizing several sustainable tourism activities, evolving the pursuit of the natural beauty sight views of this region, in a constant approach and respect with the support of the local community. We provide our customers a complete guide containing information on the cultural context of the region, with a series of activities that will enrich the holiday relaxation. We have created and promoted tourist routes and programs to promote the region's culture, whether of the handicrafts, pottery or historical monuments which record the presence, Phoenician and Roman, in the region. The local gastronomy is based on the diversified ocean offer with fresh fish and sellfish, delivered everyday mainly by the local fishermen.
We provide our guests with info about the local shops, markets and restaurants, so they can enjoy the fabulous local produce and help the local economy. We also promote bike rides, one of the best ways to see the local countryside, the rice fields or the several stork around the homestead.
