Topslip bed and breakfast farmstay, India
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
We believe that water is the life of life and hence we give our staff a basic training on how to save water and also direct used water from the kitchen etc to the trees in the farm. We suggest that our guests reuse towels and bedsheets during their stay and change the same only when the next guest arrives inorder to minimise the wastage of water.
Since we are based very close to the tiger reserve, we educate our guests on saving tigers and the fast pace in which they are declining. We also display pictures of wildlife in and around the area so that guests are aware of the same .
We make sure that the premises is free from harmful plastic as far as possible thus ensuring a healthy soil and better environment. We switch off all unused equipments including lights when not in use. We switch off our generators when our guests are not in house and also inform our guests to switch off all lights and electrical gadgets when they are not in house.
The forest plays home to a wide range of birds and animals like tigers, bisons, bear, deer, lion tailed macaque besides other animals and birds. Since we are on the foothills, we ensure that our guests are informed of the same so that nothing will be done to disturb their peace and existence inside the forest. We dont organise noisy events or functions within our premises and do not entertain anything that could spoil the serenity of the place.
Community
We recruit people from the local community and also buy our vegetables and other utilities from the local vendors . We organise river baths in private farms thus help them sell their resources to the tourists .We hire and recommend our local cabs to all tourists so that we can create a win win situation for both the traveller and the vendor since local vendors are more aware of the area around and the specialities.
We have built a medical consultation room for tribes in the area and are also planning to help the tribes from a different hamlet. We offer the same salaries that are offered to any worker and have provided better working conditions and equipments to make their job easier and have recruited 3 people from the local community so that they give our guests more knowledgeable information on the forest, the wildlife and the local attractions along with the other details like time of visit, season of visit etc.
We arrange for local tribal music for our guests during our stay on request and we are also looking at taking our guests to visit their hamlet. All efforts are being made to work with the forest department to offer our maximum support for the cause of the environment. We suggest all guests a trip to the local dam which is a very old one especially children and also a water falls near by .We promote pottery and buy products from the local artisans and also promote popular temples and activities like bullock cart rides , walk through the natural terrains and also organise customised day trips to local attractions on request.
