South Downs holiday bungalows, England

Description of South Downs holiday bungalows, England

Three bungalows situated in the South Downs near to the sea on a beautiful working farm.

There is lots to do nearby from the South Downs Way through to the Seven Sisters, Beachy Head and many more. We are happy to help all guests with finding out what activities locally they might find interesting.

A good example of the type of thing that goes on around here is Eastbourne's Airbourne! Airbourne 2011 saw a fantastic three days of flying as well as remarkable displays in the main area, attracting scores of people across the seafront. 2011 saw the iconic Red Arrows leading a packed programme featuring the best of the RAF and international display teams across the eight miles of seafront and over national beauty spot Beachy Head. Views from the bungalows and the farm of Airbourne are exceptional. The end of Airshow firework display is always worth a look.

Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: South Downs holiday bungalows, England

We are committed to our environment and as farmers fully understand what can happen if we don't protect the land around us. As a result we try to conserve the natural habitat as much as possible where appropriate and essentially we try to make sure that all waste disposal is done is a responsible manner.

The South Down is a National Park which is designated for its outstanding natural beauty and rich wildlife and cultural heritage. It covers an area of 1,600 km2 offering a landscape as diverse as it is breathtaking.

Green rolling pastures, open spaces, ancient woodlands and river valleys truly encompass the National Park’s ethos of being one of ‘Britain’s Breathing Spaces’. While bustling towns and traditional villages steeped in history offer a multitude of cultural opportunities. The Eastern Downs are characterised by open rolling hills with large fields and few trees. It is a vast, exposed and sweeping landscape where the sky is the main thing you see and views always seem to be changing.

Our local community is supported by myself and other local farmers by conserving and enhancing the National Park. .

The South Downs has over 3,000 kilometres of Rights of Way that you can walk on which we encourage people to explore, visiting our local neighbours and business' on the way.

Each bungalow has leaflets of local attractions, pubs and restaurants. My wife and I have lived and worked in Eastbourne for a number of years so can recommend a number of lovely places to eat. A particular favourite of ours is The Old Polegate Station and The local Harvester.

A local farmers market takes place every Wednesday just down the road in East Dean which provides delicious local fruit veg and meat.

Eastbourne is a unique seaside resort with an amazing range of activities, sports and exciting events for you to enjoy in a fantastic setting. Everything is within easy reach with the seafront promenade virtually leading straight on to the foot of the beautiful Eastbourne Downs and Beachy Head and the town centre just a few yards walk from the centrally located Victorian Pier.

The farm landscape can be enjoyed by walking around the farmland and the surrounding fields where animals can be seen in their natural habitat. We encourage walking around the farm to get to know the landscape and provide maps. Walking around the farm you will see a number of Romney breed sheep, and over the far side of the farm you will see our herd of cattle.

Walking is the perfect way to keep fit, appreciate nature and just take time out. Enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the high chalk downland, the patchwork fields and deep wooded valleys of the Weald. In an area rich in cultural heritage and historical monuments including Iron Age hill-forts, ancient chalk figures, medieval villages and Norman churches, there’s always something to see along the way
